Stores and or other places you refuse to do business with

I've done commercial refrigeration for many years. I've learned that most of the high end restaurants I've serviced have some of the dirtiest kitchen/food prep areas I have ever seen. Not all, but most. Many of the family-owned stores are filthy...not all. I've seen too much filth in the food areas. I try not to think about it when I go out to eat. Also, if I have a choice of going to (fictional name)'s restaurant in the city or their other joint 5 miles out of the city, I will drive out of the city, where the employees might have a give-a-care attitude. Even McFood chains are cleaner in the rural areas compared to the city's. I want clean food. A good friend & classmate of mine died, among a few others, from hepatitis that he got from a restaurant chain in the area about 17 years ago. That chain lost everything and all their restaurants shut down. Anyone from this area probably remembers the story. 'nuff said. :(

I remember that well. Sorry to hear about your friend.

Back when I lived in the 'Burgh my gf and I used to go to those restaurants quite a bit. That was the late 80's early 90's.

Have to agree with you regarding the cleanliness of the fast food joints. We used to stop at the Micky D's in Murraysville on Rt22. It was what we called the last outpost, before you got into the Burgh proper.

Of course, that was 30 years ago. Haven't been back since 1991.

PS - the restaurants are long gone, but their chips and salsas are still available in grocery stores, go figure

There are many that I avoid, Walmart is at the top of that list. Any company that supports extreme groups or an extreme left agenda and the like that I am aware of, I try my best to find another place to spend my money. The ones below are boycotted and will never see a dime of my money.

Yeti
Under Armour
Dick's Sporting Goods
Levi
Nike

Dick sporting goods..... they wont sale a long gun to anyone under the age of 21.... Our kids can join the Military, fight and die for our country at 18, but can't walk in Dicks and buy a shotgun to small game hunt.

Pretty sure they don't even sell guns AT ALL anymore. Not even bb guns.

You might be right I haven't been in there for a few years.

I went in about 2 months ago because I was desperate for an ammo can and the young greeter said sorry no gun stuff anymore. I went to check just in case and not even a paintball gun. The closest thing to an ammo box was an airtight tackle box thingy.

We lived in Monroeville just a few blocks off Rt.22. One of that chains restaurants was not far from the house and it was on Rt.22. Went there a couple of times. Left in 1993 and have never been back.

Probably too many places to list. Many I've found on this post I'm in agreement with. Will my personal boycott affect any of the companies? I doubt it but I'm doing it anyway because I feel that a person has to take a stand sometimes.

I ran into a guy who used to work at that location and was working for another store down the street. He explained to me that (Seller's Bros.) "caters to a specific demographic group" in that area and that people who don't fall into that demographic are "encouraged to do business elsewhere".

Except for picking up someone from the outside of it, I have never set foot in that store again and never will.

I'd be going out of my way to go in there every chance I got:). I'm probably the least confrontational guy you've ever met, but according to MrsB I can be a little cantankerous.

For years Best Buy has been my go to place for any electronic stuff. I have found their employees to be polite and well trained. My wife and I (In our 70's) recently bought a printer there. The young man went out of his way to determine our needs and recommend the right product for us. He also gave us the pros and cons of signing up for various ink services. We were both very pleased. I wish all retail employees were as good as the ones at Best Buy.

Given todays "sophisticated speech" using $ 10.00 words to mean exactly the same as $3.00 words, Best Buy will now be called Premier Purchase!

I don't protest or boycott, and I don't walk around with my knickers in a knot.

I will tell you that I got nothin' for Liz Chaney. Never have.

I live 30 miles from a town of 7,500 folks, and it's another 24 miles to a town of 10,000. There are ranches and farms and a few residences between me and them. I shop in those two towns, mostly at mom 'n' pop places, even the grocery store is locally owned. The folks who work on my truck work for a high school buddy who's about to retire and turn the place over to his equally capable stepson. They don't care for Liz, either! "Birds of a feather...."

Generally the stores have what I need; if they don't they order it for me. I might pay a bit more and wait a little longer. I know the folks in every store I shop in, and they call me by name. Sort of nice that way.

I do not shop online (except for those auction places that offer those nifty little S&W revolvers I like so much).

I'll tell ya' another thing: I'd boycott this wind if I could.

This is a fun thread. Us gun owners are a predictable bunch so I am not surprised by many of the answers, but some of these have made me laugh. My eyes are still watering from Ritz crackers. Why all the hate for AARP? I assume some anti-gun thing of course. By the way "ditto" on Starbucks, their coffee is horrible!

You bunch of cancel culturalists! I'm kidding of course but I'll be honest I'm sitting here wearing Levi's and polishing off a whopper sandwich. Stopped by dicks today to look for whiffle balls, they didn't have bulk so went to wal mart found a bag of 10 for $5.88. I'm not going to stress over some corporate CEOs opinion about American politics, especially when a lot of these companies, like Levi's, are foreign owned.

And yes, I use pay pal.

Stores I stopped going to

Alexanders
E.J. Korvettes
Lafayette Radio
Horn and Hardart
Kleins Department store
Caldors
Gimbles
John Wannamaker
Toys R Us
Sears
K-Mart
Montgomery Ward

They haven't got any of my money in many years.
;)

I hate Starbucks because their coffee sucks and my daughter in law has a coffee shop and they compete with her .

My home town here in Florida was that way before I joined the Corps. !6,000 in the town/35,000 in the county. My family had lived there almost 60 years at that time. Everybody knew every body. When I retired from the Corps, we went back home. Viola, it has/had grown up, there is now 159,000 here. To late to move, as the Grandkids live here, so Grandma isn't going anywhere..........😒

How DARE you!!!

I don't complicate my life. There isn't a single store or business I wouldn't shop at if they had something I wanted at a good price.

I love Wal Mart. I can get an oil change from a non-crackhead for 20 bucks and they never try to hustle any services. If you want wiper blades they take them off the store shelf and charge you the store price.

Same goes for movies. I don't care what an actor's political beliefs are, if I want to see the movie I go. I just watched "News of the World" in the theater and loved it. I'll even watch Cat Ballou.
