Real optimists, here in the ol' Volunteer State.

The area I was in was Bear Wallow Gap, just off of The Devils Elbow.
On the other side of the county, you'll find Seabowisha.

One of my favorite names is Beaver Lick, KY. It's near Big Bone Lick.

In Alaska and parts of Canada and the Yukon, roadhouses are the social centers of a community. Half way between Fairbanks and Nenana Alaska is such a roadhouse. Its name is world famous, "Skinny Dicks Half Way Inn" and a must visit place when in the area.

Floyd's Knob

I grew up in Indiana and my all time favorite is Floyd's Knob.

Also, it's already been mentioned but it's worth repeating just to honor the hometown of Larry Bird........French Lick.

Tenino WA(?). Named for the numbers on a telephone pole in the town; ten - nine - zero.

Will Rogers often said he was from Claremore - well, actually Oologah, but "can't nobody but an Indian pronounce that."
