Striker Fired 3rd Gen

I'm sure the new metal framed M&P is nice enough, but what I'd really like to have seen them do was use the 4006TSW as the base. Build all the mechanical aspects and internal features as a M&P, with a 3rd Gen exterior appearance. Obviously the bore axis is different and would need addressed in the design. Use the M&P magazines and make any minor modifications needed too fit M&P holsters.

My thanks to the individuals over on the CHP 4006TSW thread for providing photos of these fine pistols.

I think there would be way too many engineering changes to make the old 3rd gen pistols into a striker fired design.

Well, I suppose you could put it like that. The M&P looks fine as a polymer pistol. I just don't know that it does as well as a classic S&W in a metal frame.
