Suggestion for case trimmer

I would recommend an L.E Wilson case trimmer. Can be purchased through MidWayUSA or Sinclair's, or on online auctions.

I trim my revolver brass. My 44 mag cases I purchase new, and trim them all to the same over all length. I have not had to trim them since. I do use the Hornady, but its the hand operated version and I like it real well.

I trim my 44 Mag brass so that they're all the same as well. Since, I haven't found a need to trim them at all. I just used the Lee Lock Collar and case gauge. It worked well and for the minimal amount of trimming, all I needed.

If you plan on trimming a lot of brass over the years, the minimalist approach doesn't work well. I'd suggest a powered Lyman or RCBS trimmer. If it's more than you need right now, you'll probably grow into it. I tried el cheapo trimmers. There's a reason they're cheap.

IMHO trimming straight walled pistol brass is a waste of time. They don't stretch.

Agree with not trimming straight wall cases. I have never trimmed a 45 acp, 9mm, or 38 special case. Only have my trimmer for rifle brass.

I just loaded a bunch of 357 cases for silhouette. Since I wanted everything uniform. I measured my cases. Yup, they were all a wee bit long. I'm hoping it won't make a big difference, so I don't have to do it again.

I've owned a couple inexpensive, brand name, hand powered trimmers over the years. About 10 years ago I purchased the RCBS power trimmer. Pricey, but as with any quality product worth the extra money. I always size and initial trim my pistol brass to insure a uniform length and uniform crimp. After the initial trim I find trimming is not necessary on the pistol brass. The AR is a different story. The power trimmer makes trimming 100 cases about a 30 minute job. Mike

I've used the wilson case trimmer for rifle ammunition, then tried an old forester but found it wasn't as accurate as the wilson. Then the lee lock and case length gizmo. That one is almost impossible to mess up. However some pistol brass I have used did show uneven lengths. Just took a few thousandths off the case length guage and just trim them to one length. Never found the need after that to trim them any more after that. Frank

HORNADY

I have a Hornady Cam-Lock case trimmer and I love it.:)Very easy to use, fast, and does an outstanding job.;)
