SUPER BOWL!!

IMO, the PGH Penguins' regular National Anthem singer, Jeff Jimerson, does a very excellent job singing the song. Or songs, if it's a Canadian opponent. He just sings the song and that's it. No voice aerobics, no "extras", just the song. I imagine if it were timed it would be within a second of each time. Plus, I'm pretty sure he doesn't need to look at the big screen to remember the words. I'm still trying to figure out the target audience for the Superbowls. It sure as heck isn't for almost everyone who talks about it. BUT, it's getting free advertising from all the social media, good or bad, as if it needs it!
Oh, zeke, you use that "musicians" word a little too freely!
Peace!

Meh, Kansas City is St Louis West and Philly is NYC "lite." I watch exactly 1 football game a year, SB is it. Mahomes throws the ball like a bullet, too bad there was nobody to "hit". The KC bus was warming up after the half time even though they woke up with 3 minutes to play. At least it didn't go until after midnite so there's an upside. I haven't been interested in pro sports since Mantle and Maris played baseball. Joe

KC never really woke up. Their last minute rally was more Philly kicking back and relaxing. I just hope the city doesn't get trashed.

Philly was just to physical for the Chiefs. Yes, the Chiefs scored at the very end on the Eagles second team. The one thing that kinda bothered me was that I thought that the President attended the game. Maybe I missed it, but I did not see him on my screen. Which I thought was a little odd. Or, perhaps the NFL will not recognize the President?

Others certainly have differing opinions/tastes, but am in the camp of believing the National Anthem is about America. When musicians attempt to "add" to it, they make it about themselves.

Just sing it with pride, no need to enhance anything. I cringe when I hear “and here to sing the national anthem”.

They showed him during the anthem.

Saw where he left after half time. Not much to show

My wife was waving the "Red" flag while I thought it was time to pass the award off.

I agree that the first part was an eye opener.

I let my wife watch the hafe time "Show" , while I went into the kitchen to pull out the chili from the frig and start heating it up, for the main corse, with chopped onions, cheese etc. that shoud be ready in 20 minutes.

I enjoyed the Doreto's spot, again this year with the tussle for that bag of chips.

A few more "Groaners" this year................. but I was happy with the
outcome of the game.

Lots of "New" news for a while.

Finally, some fresh air.

My guess is that since the favorite team lost, there was a lot of heavy drinking and domestic violence going on!

This is what I was trying to say in Post # 14.

I fear it was not a good Super Bowl for Ms. Taylor Swift. She was booed by some rude fans, and her beloved's team lost by a landslide.

I felt very sorry for Ms. Taylor Swift. She was there to cheer her beloved boyfriend on, and some very rude fans booed her. She herself is never rude. Afterwards I am sure it was hard for her to console Travis.

375hh1973, Thank you for letting me know that they showed the President. I did not see the beginning of the game. I am glad that He was shown during the Anthum.

Two people that set the Star Spangled Banner bar into the Super Bowl stratosphere;

1: Whitney Houston in 1991.

2: Chris Stapleton 2023.

They both "embellished'" it.

I for one do not believe in "embellishing" the National Anthem is the proper thing to do. To me those that do are trying to put their "stamp" on it as if was theirs and not the Nations. Maybe my thinking is wrong, but it is my opinion.

I agree. Kind of like embellishing the American flag.
It is a symbol, one that shouldn't be "personalized" or tampered with. JMO.
But people are free to do either, even if I don't like it.
