Have seen a few threads lately about the great work these folks do. They certainly did a fantastic job for me.
My dad died in 1992 and I wound up with a few of his S&Ws.
One was a 1st year .357 Magnum. Met a guy at a gun show that told me about the S&W Forum. Joined the Forum and learned about S&WCA and SWHF. Joined the Association and also became a member of the Historical Foundation.
Ordered my first Letter of Authenticity on the .357.
Don Mundell said it appears to have been owned by an FBI agent in the San Antonio, Texas area. Wow!
Ordered five documents from SWHF.
One of them is a repair letter from Potchernick's in San Antonio to S&W. Says gun is the property of Jomer C. White, c/o the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Wow again!
I guess Don was looking at the repair letter to give me the heads up about the FBI connection.
Would love to hear some of your SWHF stories.

Thanks to this forum, and the ensuing connection with both the foundation and the association, I have a few guns that I lettered which point to them having a storied history...But alas, the documentation trail ends before conclusive proof could be obtained...I also bought one boxed Model of 1950 that came with its own letter, a letter which was addressed to a now prominent member of this forum, the foundation and the association...Apparently the previous owner of the gun and letter did not realize the significance of the name, but it's my keeper now...:D...Ben
