Taurus PT111G2

When the PT 111 came out I got one and thought I'd love it.
5 trips to the range at over 150 rounds each time.
Taking my time and wanting to love the gun. I just couldn't do it. The trigger had a mile of take up and was sloppy (to put it nicely).
Of course l'll get slack for this - I felt the same about the shield too.

Has somebody's trigger finger been spoiled by too many 1911s?;):)

I do understand that it has nothing to do with the G2. I just wonder why anyone would want a firearm that makes a model with that kind of malfunction.

I am not a fan of Taurus, but people do like to blame others for their actions or mishaps.

I gun is not supposed to be dropped, and if it is, a breakage of something could cause an accidental fire on ANY weapon.

I have no idea what the claims about firing with the safeties on is about.

If there was a defect, it should be able to be fixed, and Taurus would admit there was a problem. Taurus is not admitting any problem, and they state there is NO fix. So what IS actually wrong with them?

I have one Taurus, and it is one of the models recalled. Purchased by my wife in 2011, it is a PT111 Millennium Pro in 9mm. I have always thought of it as a pretty good gun, given a Taurus. The spring isn't quite strong enough for constant +P rounds, but function and quality are just fine. All around problem free compact for a good price.

I just went and checked it now. Mine does not fire with the safety on. I cannot speak about dropping it, because that is something I don't do. However, with the safety on and squeezing the trigger, I can see pressure being put on the safety lever. It moves the safety lever ever so slightly. So maybe that is the problem. Some safeties are not strong enough and pressure on the trigger dis-engages them?

I will keep the Taurus though. I don't go around pulling the trigger when the safety is on, and I will not be dropping it anytime soon, so it should do fine. It is all in the owner for the most part. Unless a blatant defect.

I look at all these "plastic fantastics" the same, no matter the brand. They are all sub par, except for a few.

I rather pack a good old fashion revolver made in the prime days of long ago.

To the OP, you made the right decision with your choice, for the reason you that you picked a gun that was "right" for YOU!

Look, I love smith, just like everyone here, but for everyone saying the trigger on the G2 is garbage, have you had an SD9VE like I did? Because the trigger on the G2 beats it hands down.

Also, Smith is way too expensive in most cases. For example I cant justify 700 bucks for a 686 (probably closer to 800) but I sure as hell could justify 500 for a Taurus 66 or 608 to my wife.

I just took my G2 to the range today and 500 rounds later without issue, yes i trust the thing with my life. Hell, my damn body guard has had light strikes on cheap ammo. Should I not trust my life to the bodyguard now?

Bottom line is I trust and ENJOY both of my carry options fully. The taurus works and feels great for ME. Dont like it? Dont buy it, thats all.
