My 13 year old daughter really wanted to go see Taylor. She is THE act for young’s girls, they’re obsessed with her.
Getting tickets from Ticketmaster for the face value price was next to impossible, because all of the resellers grab them up quick. It’s not like when we were young, there’s a whole industry of online companies that game Ticketmaster to buy at face value and then resell the tickets on their website for obscenely inflated prices. Taylor Swift prices are the high water mark of this scenario. It’s amazing to me, but people will pay the price. Capitalism works.
I felt so guilty not buying tickets for my daughter, but my sensibilities couldn’t allow it. Resellers wanted 2, 3, 4 thousand dollars a ticket, and more. Some lousy seats for $1,500. In good conscience, I just couldn’t support spending that kind of money on a pop concert.
The real problem happened when some of her friends ended up getting tickets. Talk about feeling like the worst dad ever!! I guess their parents didn’t share my indignation and/or just make a whole lot more money than me….
