Amazon Prime has a new series that became available on the 11th of November. It is called The English. It takes place in the western US in the 1890's. IMHO it is very interesting even though it is brutal and might be hard for some people to watch. Mrs. MD says "that show is unbelievable and I might have to leave the room". Series one has 6 episodes. Check it out.

Skip The English and just watch Deadwood again.

The series is overstuffed and by the end when they reveal more of the mysterious elements of the plot it becomes laughably bad. Oftentimes the show feels like it was inspired by a comic book.

Watched several episodes last night. Some parts I did not understand.
1. In the first episodes it had Cavalry Troopers arms with brass frame C&B Colt revolvers in 1890 ?

2. What is that the issue with the Indian couple and bones and dead bodies

I liked when Black Eye Moll was evaluating the worth of the wagon with her two sons, enumerating the potential profit... "rifle, meybe $15 unless it's '73.." Well, unlikely to be '92 in 1890!

Made it thru 2 episodes, won't see any more. The premise of the brave, stoic hero and true hearted heroine are worn out. too many clichés, too much gratuitous blood scenes.

I thought it was pretty good. A lot of knives were displayed if you are interested in edged weapons.

I'm about halfway through and really like it. Lady Cornelia is not your typical damsel in distress, and Eli Whipp is great. They could have done a little better with the guns (I think she has a Rossi!) but I'm not gonna let that ruin it for me.

Just finished watching the series. Beautifully photographed and well acted, I thought. I was surprised to see it was filmed in Spain.
