The Every Trip Range Gun

Old tanker, nice rifles. If I go to the outdoor range the Al Freeland goes with me. Lucky to find one of the 21 super target .22 rifles Al Freeland made with an Eric Johnson barrel. Dated barrel in 1950, mine is number 11!!! Put the Lyman super target spot scope on it afterwards. Fun at 50 yds. Beautiful wood. This gun is a dream come true.

Recently found a Ruger No1 in .223 with a Douglas heavy barrel, has a Leupold 18x fine crosshair with a very small dot. Larry

Very nice, that's what I want next. Is that a MkIII, or...? I have a 22/45 MkIII I want to trade for a MkIV Hunter (long barrel).

I usually take my M41 on all range excursions.

It's a MKlll Hunter.

Nice 41, I'm leaning toward making one my next firearms purchase.

98% of the time I'll take one or both of these to the range, S&W 2206 and a Ruger Charger-22 ...
Oh, the newly acquired NAA is now thrown into the mix as it happens to be in my pocket at all times.

The two that follow me to most every range session are my Model 27-9 and my Beretta M9. The 27-9 was purchased new in 2012 and is closing in on 15k rounds downrange. The M9 dates from 2011 and has over 12k rounds. So far the Model 27 has been trouble free. On the M9, I did prematurely crack a locking block at only 5,500 rounds.

I have five 22lr revolvers. Every range session has one (or two) in my bag. Fun and economical to shoot, they never disappoint. In the left photo (top to bottom) is a K22 Outdoorsman (1939), A K22 "LERK" (1947) and a K22 Combat Masterpiece (1953). Middle photo shows a 1950 Colt Officers Model Special, 4th issue (top). The bottom one is its 38 special sibling. The right side photo is an H&R "22 Special", circa 1935. The fit and finish of this one is really nice for a budget priced, depression era gun.

I have a Ruger MkIV and a S&W .22 Combat Masterpiece in my range bag on every trip to the range. One or the other, often both, get shot on every trip to the range. I also keep a brick of .22 in the bag to keep them well fed.

My Mike Curtis built bullseye gun always seems to end up going with me. It's trigger and accuracy are always enjoyed. It has shot tens of thousands of rounds of 185gr/3.5 bullseye target loads over the years and is no worse for wear. It was decommissioned from bullseye dress with a dot to normal use a few years ago.
