Way back in the summer of '77 (thats 1977 for you wise ones) momma wanted a dependable vehicle to get thru the snow and go to work. We ordered up a '78 for when they started making them. Got it in September of that year. We've had at least one jeep ever since, and usually 2 of them. It makes me kind of familiar with the wave. Us older and more seasoned jeepers don't move the arm, we wave with our hands from the 12 O'clock postion on the steering wheel. We smile, too.
Especially at the young girlies. Time was, jeeps were a man's vehicle. Now as many or more of the drivers are female. Often presentable ones.
Jeep has a road service plan, too. If a woman, like your wife or daughter breaks down on the highway, every other jeep for miles around congregates to help. Once about 25 years ago I towed one on a tug-em strap 30 miles. Wouldn't take any pay, its a service.
Another time a woman with 2 small ones broke down on the interstate. It was before cell phones were common. I pulled over to help and whatever the problem was, it required a shop. A cop pulled up in short order to sort it out. He called for a wrecker. I told him I'd take her home or where ever she and the kids needed to go. He was reluctant, but I offered up my drivers license so he could record who I was if anything untold happened to her. They all seemed OK with it.
Later I got a call from her husband, thanking me. Jeepers help jeepers.
We're the most loyal brand customers in the industry, and we universally hate the manufacturer and the crooked dealers. Figure that one out.
