As some of you may know, I really enjoy cooking. Even though there are thousands of recipes available on the internet, I have a large collection of cookbooks, as I tend to be "Old School".

One of my cookbooks is titled "My Last Supper". It provides a look at 50 of the worlds top chefs and asks them an interesting question...... If you knew it was your last day, what would you make for your own last supper? The answers vary from complex meals to incredibly simple ones.

For me, it would be a world class charcoal grilled cheeseburger (cheddar) with the basic lettuce, tomato, and onion. It would be served with some excellent French fries along with a bucket of ice, holding several bottles of cold beer. I would want to enjoy this meal with all of my close friends and family.

If you knew it was your last day and could choose your last meal, what would it be?

Mrs. Chad isn't a big seafood fan, but I love it! She would have a cheeseburger and tater tots!

I'd start with a big Bloody Mary, some raw oysters and fried calamari. For the main course, I'd like a nice paella and some crusty sourdough bread to soak up the broth.

This would do nicely!

For dessert, I'll have a slice of pecan pie and a glass of single barrel bourbon.

I'd bring any left-overs home for breakfast! :)

I'm with you sir , All the way !! The only thing that I would change would be the bread, to crusty Italian bread

Tough one.

I'd probably go with a bacon cheeseburger, potato wedge fries, a banana milkshake, and a slice of banana cream pie.

Mom's chicken and dumplings. No question. I can still taste them in my mind. Family, a cold winter day and her chicken and dumplings. A stretch, I know, and it would take a little miracle. Maybe I'm just sentimental, but I haven't eaten chicken and dumplings since Mom passed in 1999. I refuse to destroy the memory. I'm sure nothing would compare. Even though I know how she made them, I won't even try - there's one ingredient missing. So there ya have it, my last meal.

Castiron fried 8oz western beef cheeseburger, with mushrooms, Swiss cheese, bacon, in a grill cheese, with my carmelized fried sweet onions, wrinkle cut French fries not over cooked, ketchup.
Bread n butter pickles, Diet Coke with ice, Dutch apple crumb pie for desert. Or cobbler.

I have had this "last meal" menu in my head for a long time. Thanks CH.

First: dust off my cookbooks.

Aperitif: tall Tanqueray&tonic w/lime wedge.

Real caesar salad w/anchovies, A warm yeast roll w/sun dried tomato infused butter.

Steak Diane, roasted rosemary/parmesan red potatoes and lightly oiled grilled asparagus with a butter, cayenne, nutmeg brushing. Served with Belhaven Saint Andrew's Ale.

Bananas Foster w/real vanilla bean ice cream.

Large snifter of Warres vintage port.

A wafer thin mint.

First a garden salad, with tomatoes, black olives, mushrooms, with a ball of cottage cheese in the center, then covered in croutons a big plop of Blue cheese and then bacon bits. Followed by a big rib steak, seared rare, some big spot prawns or fresh king crab with garlic butter, and enough good wine to pass out after supper.

A 24 ounce, bone in Ribeye, medium well. Large baked russet potato with butter, bacon, and chives. Steamed broccoli. My wife's homemade crescent rolls (they are small so make it 12!) With the stake, a fine Merlot. After the main meal lots of dark roasted coffee with a shot of heavy whipping cream and a shot of brown rum! Dessert would be a Tiramisu or two!

I would be eating like there is no tomorrow! Forget the Sodium, forget the calories, BUT remember the wife (she is the best company before, during and after any meal!)

Ivan
