Dear S&W designers & engineers;

Why can't the loc be moved to capture the hammer spring movement so the hammer can't move rearward. It's locked by the spring holding it shut. The key hole would be on the rear of the frame between the grips at the top area of the hammer spring.

My point is if we're stuck with the design of having the loc let's make it work for both sides the manufacturer and the product consumer.

Great idea :) I believe Taurus revolvers position their lock on the back of the hammer. Effective and not such an eye sore.

Exactly, change the design and s&w revolver sales will soar again.
It can be done on is pistols too. It's a engineering upgrade and a win / win situation for everyone.

I haven't bought a keyhole S&W since they were forced upon us.
Only older models for me.
The Taurus type hammer lock would probably get me looking at the S&W line again.

I've got the Taurus produced Rossi 92 lever action rifle.
It comes with the hammer safety AND a hideous bolt safety. :(
