I am afraid of being unemployed again because of this. We will all get the virus eventually and some of us, maybe this old man, will die, but that is a chance that I am going to need to take sooner than later.

And Montana has a population of 7.0 people per square mile. Here are some population densities of states where this Covid 19 is running rampant:
Louisiana, where I live - 104.9 people per square mile
New York - 421 per square mile
Massachusetts - 890 per square mile
New Jersey - 1211.3 per square mile
Ya' think maybe the spread of this disease might be related to how many people are crowded together perhaps.
Let's not forget the elephant in the room. The press does what it does, which is mostly to provide information. The Elephant misinforms and disinforms, sometimes deliberately, sometimes because it can't help it.

Let's be honest about the REAL reason for most of this anti-media ranting:
The major media aren't reporting what you want to hear.
The problem isn't so much that they have an agenda, but that their reporting doesn't fit your agenda.
When I look at the stuff my media-critical friends are posting all over the internet, on Facebook and in forums and other social sites, there are tons of links to other "media", mostly twaddle from obscure internet sites and blogs catering to the fringe, who supposedly have "the real story".
Except for, in the larger context, rather harmless phenomena like TP hoarding, our people have handled this crisis rather well so far and show little sign of the fear and panic about the virus supposedly generated by the media that critics are constantly bemoaning. Fear-mongering about government actions, on the other hand, appears to have hobbled politicians in certain parts of the country and may actually endanger lives.

Maybe we got some brains here and are hanging tight. Actually a big part is low population density. Mostly of the cases are in our largest cities. I do know we are smart enough around here to try to look out for each other and ourselves. Lot less ME ME ME. Most of the people here will gladly take some time off to possibly save the lives of their neighbor unlike a lot of self centered jerks.
Look at this small fact.
Sweden with a population of about 10 million has done nothing, no restrictions, business as usual. It has a dead toll of 899. On either side of it you have Finland and Norway. Both have place restrictions similar to us. Finland has 5 million people and Norway has another 5 million. They are all side by side. Now Finland has had 49 deaths and Norway. had had 123 deaths. Their combine 10 million has lost 172 people and Sweden has lost about 5 times as many. Just why do you think that is? I highly doubt it is because of how their newspapers report it
Here some more thoughts for you.
It has killed healthy people in every age group. Mostly it is those of us over 60 but, from the CDC "older Americans represented 31% of the cases, they accounted for 45% of hospitalizations, 53% of ICU admissions, and 80% of deaths"
That means 55% of the hospitalizations, 47% of ICU admissions, and 20% of deaths were people below that age.
Some of over 60 are pretty health and are not in any hurry to die because a certain percentage of the people can't seem to wrap their mind around the fact that a virus doesn't care that you read the paper, like to watch movies, have a 401K, drive an SUV, ride in airplanes. To a virus we are just a bunch of rodents and a densely packed prairie dog town or city full of people all scurrying around is the idea place to set up camp spread out and decimate the population. IT don't care.

No political agenda what so ever. I don't vote for anyone who belongs to either major political party EVER. What I do have is an high IQ. Its handy to have if you ever get around to trying to think sometime.

I find it ironic that some folks who know how the press can ignore or exacerbate an issue pick and choose when it is ok and when it isn't. I think there are parallels here between the press' reporting on guns and gun violence etc.
I don't disagree that the press should report the facts regarding CV19 and make the public aware of the situation, but sensationalizing things is where I get frustrated with them.
Just look at the headlines. Believe me there are positive things happening out there if they wanted to report them. This is not specific to CV19 - it is with everything they report.

The good thing about the beer virus mania/hysteria/panic is that one does not hear much about global warming or more gun rights infringements (other than temporary closure of some shooting ranges).

Problem with the news these days is after they brainwash people into one political point of view by screaming in their ears long enough, most people become frozen in that point of view, deer in the headlights, incapable of hearing any other point of view, believing it to be fake news.
Advocacy journalism is pretty much all that remains across the spectrum, or more properly at opposite ends of the spectrum. And we suffer social disharmony because of it.
It's a shame. A tragedy, really.

So Yes, far far more people will recover from COVID-19 than will die; but how many people did they SPREAD IT TO before they got better - or even before they knew that they were sick? And by extrapolate, do you mean the reported number of cases minus the reported number of deaths? Just a little basic maths will get you the numbers we know are surviving from the totals that they show us every day.

The notion that the major media outlets either don't have an agenda, or "of course they do", but one might object to it only because it isn't one's own agenda is laughably false. (I know that was someone else's premise.)
If one agenda is, "Reporting should be factual" and another is, "Spread false information" I submit that those two are not equally legitimate. And that objecting to the latter is not simply because it's different, but rather because it's untrue.
The Carefully Nuanced Nonsense Channel is so busy Constantly Nitpicking Nothing, that they have become China's National Narrative.
