Is the Kelce/Swift thing scripted by the NFL? No. Of course not. Is the NFL (and anyone else that can make a buck off of it) leaning into it as hard as possible? Yes. Rightly so. It is a business, after all. Does it have anything to do with football? No. But it does bring more eyes to the sport and sells merchandise and ad space.
Is the officiating worse than before? Possibly, I'm not sure. It is possible the officials are counting on the cameras to bail them out. But, they're watching the play in real time, with human eyeballs connected to human brains. Seven guys on the field to watch 22 of the fastest humans on the planet go as hard as they can. They're not gonna get every call. As far as replay goes, there's one guy in the booth at the game. I don't know how many people in NY are watching, but they'd need 22 guys watching the feeds from 22 cameras at all times. And still they would miss things.
Is it perfect? No. Is it like it used to be? No. But, sex ain't like it used to be and it's still fun. So is the NFL. I'll keep my seat on the bus. It's all the way in the back, but that's where the cool kids sit.
