GENEVA (Reuters) - Swiss President Ignazio Cassis said on Sunday that it was "very probable" that neutral Switzerland would follow the European Union (EU) on Monday in sanctioning Russia and freezing Russian assets in the Alpine country.

Cassis, interviewed on French-language Swiss public television, said that the seven-member Federal Council would meet on Monday and review recommendations by the departments of finance and economy.

Do not be surprised if Putin and Ukraine make a settlement that gives Russia the eastern quarter of Ukraine, which is already pro-Russian, and putin pulls his forces back across the border and declares a hollow victory.
Parrt of that agreement will be a pledge that Ukraine will not join NATO. Which does not mean that NATO cannot arm Ukraine to the teeth and create a death trap along it's eastern border with Russia.

Funny old thing, a coworker and I wondered the other day if the new border would be along the Dnieper River. Only thing is I cannot see Ukraine being too happy to give up Kharkiv and their installations in that region.

It's fascinating to watch the news coverage of this story, and how it's energized people all over the world. In cities everywhere, there are public demonstrations of support for Ukraine, and if positive energy, prayers, and good thoughts make a difference, President Zelensky and his countrymen will win.

I was thinking about how we are all drawn to these David-vs.-Goliath stories, and how we always root for David in such scenarios. Sometimes things turn out the way we hope, sometimes they don't, but we draw inspiration from them nonetheless, don't we?
