The S&W harder to find than a Shield

Got my shield in .40 cal for $450 here in north Alabama. Recently picked up a M&P .45 full size for $499. Went with the full size .45 because it's not much bigger than the .45c & has two more rounds.

No shortage of Compacts and full sized M&P's at the LGS here. Still no Shields.

I have a 9c, 40c, 40 shield, and two 9 shields personally.

The shop I work in has a compact 9 on the shelf. We also have 2 C.O.R.E's one in .40 one in .9. When we get shields they are gone within 1-2 days. Never any longer then that weither its the 9 or .40.

Is anyone seeing the S&W M&P 9 or 40 compact at there LGS? I have not been able to find one for months. What gives?

my LGS has plenty of them in stock, last week there were 4 guys there waiting on their background checks for the 40c's

There's plenty at the LGS a mile from here. They had an S&W demo event at the range a few months ago, and they LOADED up on the whole M&P line. That's where I first shot the Shield. They gave you the ammo and let you take 5 shots with a 9mm Shield, 5 with 9mm FS, 5 w M&P-22, and 5 w M&P 22-15. They still have a bunch. They had the compacts at $499 for the event, now at regular price of $529.
I'll be over, you got dinner covered for me?

Those are MSRP numbers you're seeing. When you go to get an instant quote using your zip code you'll get a real price. My LGS has them for $479
thanks, yes I figured the website out, my price cheapest to me was over 5 bills.

$500 Do you think they will be available for less than that?

Yes I agree it cost about $65 to make the gun, there is a good mark up on them, are polymer guns worth that much ,not likely, but they are trouble free and last for ever. Less than $500?
Last I remember they where under $450 retail. Not sure your point.

I am curious how many they have left these seem to be hard to come by around me lately. Shields are sitting on the selves.

They're available here in Las Vegas at both the LGS($425) and on the secondary market($400). I think the 40S&W ones are the slowest movers. The 9mm sell faster.

I bought my 9c used with 3 mags for $400 last spring. I've put around 1000 rds through it and have never had 1 failure since owning it. Love my S&W.
Not sure how old it is though, the factory case it came in is black and I believe they now come in a blue case. Anyone have any idea the age?

Look in the case under the foam for the little manila envelope, that's the spent casing from when it was shot at the factory. The date on the envelope is basically the build date.

Good luck hunting brother.

The only one I've found is a 3" model 60 357 Mag with adjustable sights serving duty as a local range gun. The range owner said it is contracted to be a range gun for another 10 months or so before he can sell it.

I just hope he puts it up for sell instead of keeping it as he is a fan of J frames and doesn't have one in his collection.

Edmo check your local Bass Pro shop. They routinely have the 60 - 3" in stock here. It's about $750. I don't know what prices you've seen.
