I acquired a 28-2 6" from the mid 70's a while back. It is a great range gun and a blast to shoot. I love mine! (show with some stable mates):)
I used to have a pre-M12 with an alloy cylinder similar to what you have there.

I sold it with the wrong grip panels on it, they had a slightly thinner backstrap than a K frame usually has.

Here's my newest. I bought it yesterday from the original owner, who swears this Highway Patrolman has never been fired. It's a 28-2, SN 2524xx.

Or used. I know some woman that said the same thing...... :)

LOL yeah. I see your point, and I do remember what PT Barnum once said.

However, after close inspection, there's not a scratch or wear mark on it, other than a light rub that i would expect from laying in the box for decades. cleaning patches never showed evidence of being fired (usually I can find something, someplace), and the lubricant I cleaned off of it was what I typically see when a gun has sat. You know, when a light gun oil ages over the decades into axle grease.

6" 357 HP Serial 132***

I know it is an old thread, but thanks for listing it. I got this revolver when my grandfather past away. I was trying to find out the year it was made. According to your list it should be about a 1955 model. Now it is beginning to appear that he may have purchased it new.

I have a M1917 that's been cut to a 3 inch barrel. I haven't fired it yet, because a previous owner also did a trigger job on it that it so sensitive, I need to have a gunsmith check it out before I deem it safe.
