The Ultimate Model 10 Thread!

Just wanted to show off this vintage Eubanks holster on the Lawrence
cartridge belt holding my 4" model 10. The knife is a Marbles Damascus.

2nd from left is the 4" in an old Heiser FBI holster. It was before model
numbers but identical to the #457. Has the elongated triple H mark.
Probably the best gun to holster fit I have ever seen. Like the gun was
melted and poured into the holster.

3rd from left is the 4" in the famous Hank Sloan with adjustable welt by
Bucheimer.

4th from left is the 2" in a Lewis Police crossdraw, like Joe Friday
carried his 2" in Dragnet.

5th from left is the 2" in the venerable Bianchi 5B. I read an article
that said Bianchi furnished holsters and belts to Federal Agents
back in the 1970s. I asked John and he told me it was the 5B.

How on earth did this get so far back?

An ugly picture of the ugliest Model 10 I've purchase in the last few years.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think your model 10 is a good looking example of a much carried weapon

I suppose you'd have to see it in person. Good deal of surface rust, but no pitting I can find. Lots of finish wear, import marked. I wish I knew where it was from, the finish wear reminds me a ton of the various South American trade ins I've seen.

What a thread -- more than seven years old. I read every page. Some "old-standard" screen names, but more who have been lost to the hour glass. Where have they gone?

Here's my contribution, humble as it is compared to some.

Victory 4", shipped to Navy Norfolk December 15, 1943.
Postwar M&P 5", shipped December 1946.
Model 10-5 2", shipped February 23, 1967.

Slàinte,

Bob

10-5 Round Butt

An old new 10-5 rb to add to my collection. Serial number is D11909x, looks like sometime in 1969 my birth year! Nice ampersands on right side and barrel.

OK, I'll play. Kind of embarrassing now though.

Started out a 10-5 from Century Arms, delivered to my door for $127.00. It was 1992, I had a FFL, extra money and extra time. I got all the parts from Brownells, (as well as all the tools I soon found out I needed.) I made my own frame support for a vice, took the barrel off and went to town on the inside. I sure learned a lot, and found out how to do a superb trigger job on S&W revolvers.

I sent all of the disassembled parts out for hard chroming, then fit the barrel and put it back together. It has thousands of rounds through it now, and is still perfect, although very dated.

Jim

Recently picked up this model 10 for less that $125 OTD at a retailer going out of business. Looks to have been carrier a lot. The barrel is almost oval near the muzzle. The grips look to be modified but are they genuine S&W targets(they have black washers)? Could someone let me know the ship date for serial# 8D25xxx?

My newest member of the S&W family. A 10-8 police trade in serial# AHU2*** has lots of character but mechanically very little use. Nice tight lockup. Anyone have an idea of it's shipping date? The 3x4 serial numbers tells me early-mid 80's.
