the white dot fell out.....

Luminous paint is useless on a carry or HD weapon because it needs to be charged right at the moment it's needed. I'm not even sure it's useful on a range gun.

I was/am thinking about painting with something that will pick up as much light as possible, rather streetlamp or moon or whatever...

however, i may send it back if there is truly a possibility of them throwing in a spare mag (T-BoneFL)

The right rear dot on my shield just fell out this weekend. I bought some sight paint at the lgs. My 40c still has the original dots on it. I am looking to get some night sights for the shield.

A lady over on rimfirecentral.com posted this. She said it works great on her EDC. Lure & Jig Finish in GLOW.

I've got this stuff in white and blaze orange. It goes on easy (round toothpick), dries quick, and is tough. Found it in the fishing supplies area of Gander Mountain.

My Shield now has a new, longer lasting white dot in the front sight dimple.

I just noticed this morning that the right rear sight on my Shield no longer has a white dot. Guess I need to pick up some paint.

My dot fell out also within the first 300 rounds...hahaha

Been looking into the idot pro.Not sure yet.

That hi-viz paint looks like a good short term option.

I have 3 M&Ps. The rear dots fell out of 2 of them. This is a common problem that S&W can't seem to fix.

It's not a big deal, I just used some gloss white nail polish and it looks good as new.

The sights are manufactured by another company according to "Dawn" at SW. I have an MP40, MP40c, and two shield 9mms. The white dot on my first Shield (right rear) did bail out on me. I did the Testors model paint and a toothpick after cleaning the dimple with alcohol and a cotton sway. DON'T use much paint on the toothpick! Just a little will make the thing look new. Can't tell the dots apart now and I didn't have to ship back to SW.

Just happened to me as well! Only bad thing i have to say so far about my shield.

Must be a jillion dots on somebodies range.....I painted the white dots on mine with an international lime green. Took almost a minute to do them. If they ever come out I will take another minute of my time and re-paint them again. Cost me almost .99 cents!

I noticed my front sight fell out on the second time to the range. I cleaned the dimple with Non-Acetone nail polish remover and repainted the dot with the same "Snow Me White" by Sinful Colors nail polish I applied to my etching. Hahaha, My wife and her crazy nail polish names. Looks like original though. Looking into night sights now. There are alot of options out there.. .

Just done my sights in Yellow Glo, looks great, but can't seem to shoot clear picture. Sorry for unclear picture, my Toy Poodle had to get into the picture.

I've had that happen on HKs 2x now. Not a big deal...

Just get some white Testors model paint.

Get a sewing needle (i've used a safety pin as well) - dip the needle in and let ONE drop fall off the end - straight into the sight depression.

Practice a few times, because sometimes ya gotta let the first drop dribble off onto a piece of papertowel, and then get the second one to fall into the sight... That way you get 1 clean drop.

I've done this many times. I once had a 1911 with a carry comp. I had to repaint the front sight every few months because it got so dirty.

Be aware that there is Testors white acrylic AND white enamel... One of the two is too thin to work well -

You want White Testors enamel - If you get white acrylic, it does not work that well. It dries thinner, and you will see the black underneath it.

Just practice a few times. Also get a tiny bottle of testors paint remover. Worse case - if you screw up, take the paint off and try again.

Also know that walmart does not sell model paint anymore (at least not here). I had to go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels - a hobby store.

Truglo may be an option as well. It's glow in the dark. Simply take a small drill bit and get out all the old WO, clean w/ denatured alchohol, and add a drop of truglo for each hole. Down side is it takes a while for the truglo to dry. It will harden enough to move within a few hours, but needs a week to fully cure.

Finally got to shoot my new 9mm Shield, today

the dad-burn, little white dot on the front sight fell out, while firing the first magazine through it

anybody, else?

if so -- what's the best fix?

....after market sights?

Mr. P
They will do that from time to time. I use white acrylic model paint applied with a toothpick.

The best fix I found was a set of Truglo TFO's. "Pop off Dots" seem to be a common surprise feature.

I had the right reasr sight insert fall out of my Shield during the second shooting session. I have not decided if I am going to send it to S&W to get the insert replaced, wait until night sights are available, or black out the remaining rear white insert to make them uniform.
