Hello all,

I haven't been actively pursuing S&W revolvers lately. I do visit the forum almost everyday though.

My 10 year old and I took a little ride to a LGS that we haven't been at in a while. I look in the case and saw this very nice five screw 6.5" pre model 27. I picked it up and it is in fantastic original condition. The clerk said it came with the original box. I asked to see it and found the original knurled SAT in the box. At that point I knew I had to buy it.

The box and grips are numbered to the gun. The serial number is s1574xx. I was a little surprised to see the aluminum knurled SAT. I thought it would've been knurled steel. The gold box has red metal corners. This is the first time I've seen these on a gold box.

It just goes to show that nice collectable S&Ws are out there. The price was also very nice on this one.

Now I'm stoked again...thinking about the next one!

Here's a few pics.

Lordy lordy that's purty.

Congratulations on a wonderful acquisition

Regular LGS dealer has had a 5" pre-27 in about 90% condition at the last couple shows tagged at $500. I am surprised he hasn't sold it.

Awesome gun !!!
I have been on the lookout for a 5" but the 6" model 27 is my favorite handgun for Target shooting.
I'm guessing they had red box staples left in the machine when they made your box.

Thanks for all the nice feedback.

I happen to own a lightly used 6 inch 4 digit Python from 1959. It's nice and I wouldn't sell it but I have to say that this pre 27 is just that much nicer. If I was forced to sell one, it wouldn't be this pre 27.

Zach, my ten year old concurs.

I hope you told you son, Zach, that the revolver will be his one day!! He'll always remember being with you when you bought it!!
