Somebody in the gun related outfits sold my name and address. In the last 2 days I have gotten 5 solicitations to gun magazines. I will not give their names but there all well know magazines/newspapers.

I subscribe to 1 mag and of course getting my American Rifleman It was not the other magazine sending me stuff in the last two days as I renew every 3 years with them and I have a couple years left on this go-around!

Every now in them I get stuff like this but never getting 5 in only 2 days. Got to wonder if this info is going to generate more stuff like this. Hopefully this will not generate phone calls as I get enough nuisance calls already. No cell service here so it's LL or nothing.

I got the same slug of 5 (or 6) different ad letters offering cheap subscriptions a couple of days ago. They all were identical except for different magazines. It's hard to say where the info leak was, could have been a number of gun related places that I buy things from. (or maybe not buy, just looking at websites is enough. I just threw them in the recycling, if they keep bugging me, then I'll think about doing something (not sure what that would be).

But I can actually trace it. One previous subscription had misspelled my name , and all the new solicitations have the same mispelling.

Don't be surprised if it's the NY gov finding new ways to make money.

I know the feds do/did this. Within 2 days of me getting out of the Army, I got calls saying, "now that you're out of the Army, you need....."

solicitations...........

when the phone rings...the machine answers...
when the mail comes......they go immediately into the recycling bin....

Since I have caller ID that shows up on my TV screen I no longer answer any number that I do not recognize. It is a great little invention. Several years ago before I had caller ID I would just hang up. Once I pretended that I did not speak English, only Spanish. The very next day I started getting calls in Spanish. They're everywhere..............they're everywhere.

You guys actually pick up the phone?

No, not unless it's a number I know. If it's important they can leave a message so I can decide if I want to talk to them. If they don't leave a message they can go attempt something anatomically unlikely.

I love caller ID.

I got them too.

I like calls from folks with thick accents that say my name is Bob or CHARRRRLEY. I ask to speak to their supervisor, they go on with their spiel, I then say, have this call traced, did you get it? Great. Well Bob you are under arrest, wait there we're on the way. Usually by this time there is a click. I do like finding ways to ruin their cons and days.

I've got a Panasonic wireless phone system that hangs-up on "spam" callers automatically. It doesn't even ring. Love it.

The phone allows you to enter up to 250 spam numbers. They call once, you hit a couple of buttons, and they never ring your phone again. It saved me soooooo much frustration during the last election cycle.

Six phones, $99 dollars at SAM's. Oh, and I also like the in-house intercom feature. I don't have to bust a lung screaming for my kid to come up for supper. Now I page him.

I have not received any magazine solicitation calls, NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I received 5 letters for the crappyest gun rags yesterday! I guess my name & address got sold also. The gun mags I get are American Rifleman, Guns Magazine, American Handgunner & Handloader. Wonder which one it was that sold my info? Wife gets American Hunter & she hasn't received anything. Yet.
