Thinking about a MP15-22 just so

I think he said he was waiting on a call tag for FEDEX via USPS. I believe S&W send out their call tags via the mail, and that's what he's waiting on.
Anyway, I got my rifle back today after sending it out exactly 14 days ago. It would have been here yesterday, but I missed the FEDEX guy!
Two free mags too!

Sweet!

S&W e-mails prepaid FedEx shipping lables, right?

S&W Return

They sent my FedEx shipping stuff
via USPS. Took 3 days to get to
central Indiana.
Everything took about 3 weeks.
Sucker shoots like crazy now.

Well I sure was wrong about that then.

Glad yours is shootin good Steel. It is well worth a little patience.

I agree. Love the feedback (ding ding ding...)

I have been reading all the post about the MP 15-22 and I stated that I wanted one,but would wait till maybe S&W made a recall on the rifle to fix the problems. But after reading here and other places I might go ahead and buy one. Can anyone tell me about where in the serial numbers I might start to one that may be less prone to problems? I did purchase a Remington 597 VTR and then read about the problems and the fixes and after some minor adjusting it shoots great. I am not comparing the two guns.

Never mind about the serial munbers, just read another post and went through all the numbers posted and does not matter about the numbers. Just a shot in the dark right now. Still undecided as to when to buy.

Serial numbers will not tell you anything. Some run perfect, some have problems.

I bought an early M&P15-22 and the functioning has been flawless. Three of my friends who shot mine also bought M&Ps and none of them experienced any problems. Conclusion, I think only a small percentage of owners had problems. My first tactical 22 was a GSG5, now there was a gun with some problems. My 2'nd was the Colt/Umarex M4 that had a just as complicated takedown as the GSG5. When I bought my M&P15-22 I was so happy that someone designed it to function and takedown like a centerfire AR. Smith and Wesson did a great job with this rifle, I like mine so much I just bought a 2'nd one with the factory installed flash hider. I would not hesitate to recommend one.

Glad to hear of your good results with your 15-22. My 15-22 had the blown extractor issue, but S&W fixed it at no charge to me. I also like the 15-22 and share your enthusiasm for the rifle.

Bought mine in December and I'm very satisfied. In about 500 rounds, I have had three FTF and zero FTE.

Saturday, we took four .22LR rifles to a farm and in about 150 rounds, I had one FTF. And in about 15 rounds each, two of the others had one FTF as well. They are both (and pardon my ignorance - I'm still new to this) "traditional", wood stock .22 rifles that load from a tube that runs the length of the barrel. The guy that owns them wasn't too surprised at them failing to feed.

Also, I let two of the boys - 10 year olds - load my mags and even after explaining how to carefully load them, we had the FTF with a mag they had loaded.

When I got home to put the ammo in the safe, and the one loaded mag I keep in there too, I noticed it was not loaded correctly. I pulled the rounds from it and loaded it correctly so the FTF was probably due to an improperly loaded mag. And doing it correctly is not tough. I can do it easily, everytime.

Yes, I wish it worked exactly right every single time but evidently, getting a FTF every couple of hundred rounds is not unusual for any auto-loading .22.

The other Dad (he has ALOT more experience than I) was very impressed with the 15-22 and said he will buy one for sure. And after shooting about 15 rounds through their .22s, they all asked to shoot my 15-22 for the rest of the afternoon. It was the big hit of the day, that's for sure.

Your wish has been granted ....(maybe!)

If the gun wont run this or that ...THAN SW should state that...

Just a couple of hours ago I spoke w/ a customer service supervisor at S&W. He told me that the revised owner's manual for the 15-22 will include a list of ammo that will perform the best in that rifle. Additionally, he also told me that the list will be included w/ all the rifles that are returned to customers after repair as well.

As an aside, he was very careful to avoid naming any brand of ammunition that was not on the list. From a legal standpoint, one can promote a brand but cannot badmouth a brand w/out the risk of legal repercussions.

I think lawyers could prove very beneficial in the testing department.
