Thinking about getting a 22 rifle tomorrow.

Good gun. Hope you have an inspection period so you can test it.

As stated before, BUY AMMO NOW! ;)

We have a year warranty on it so should be good there. Will clean it really goes d and go shoot it tonight at the range! I will upload so pictures of the target after we get done!

The Marlin 60 is a fine choice. A heck of a lot of accuracy and tube fed, which is great for the field. A good value as well.

Ma'am--My son LOVES this little CZ. You can easily change out the barrels, .22, 22 Mag, .17. Beautifully stocked, tack driver, bolt action. (If you wanted a bolt action).

CZ-USA CZ 455 American Combo - CZ-USA

You can't go wrong with the Ruger either.

The best .22 ever made in my opinion is the Nylon 66. But they have become collector's items and are hard to find and expensive. Why Remington does not come back out with them is beyond me.
John

I have the CZ combo rifle with a 17 HMR and a 22LR Barrel and it is very accurate.

The two main features for a .22 rifle are accuracy (at 100 yards or so) and fun. I suppose the ultimate in accuracy is a venerable Winchester M52 with a train-axle barrel and a stock 4" wide at the forearm. I came close to buying one of those recently. However I bought a CZ 452 "American" a few years ago and love the slim barrel, smooth-acting bolt and straight box magazines. It gets boring shooting at a bulls eye at 100 yards, so my family takes aim at the "NRA" logos in the border, or simply a random bullet hole to serve as a mark.

For sheer fun, it's hard to beat a lever gun. Mine is a Marlin "Mounty" inherited from my grandfather, who bought it in 1954 (traded for a .36 Kentucky squirrel rifle, converted from a flintlock to percussion cap by his grandfather).

I recently saw my first Lefthand CZ 22.
It did look really good!
Also recently saw my first LH Remington 581.
A little 'plain jane' looking, but not bad.
In both cases I announced I was past buying LH guns.
I'm the only lefty in my family.

We have the Smith & Wesson 9mm Shield. A Sako Finnwolf 243 cal and would like to add a 22 to our list what would y'all suggest?
Been looking at the Ruger 10-22 Carbine...

Well! Here it is a Marlin 60. Used with scope, out the door 214.00 My husband fell in love with the look of it. Serial number 18432858. Older model but not sure what year? Best I can tell it's was manufactured in 1982. Will clean it up, oil it and shoot tonight. I'll post pictures then!

You did good. My father in law has a Marlin 60 he keeps by the back door on his acreage. Has had it since early 90s. Last year his son bought a better scope and I mounted it and sighted it in for him. Gave the gun a good cleaning...probably the first one since it was new;)......took it out and sighted it in. It really surprised me how well it shot off a rest. I stoked it full of CCI Velocitors and told him he was good to go for killing 50 yd ground hogs. And he has killed a few since then.

Here's what we got a Marlin 60 older model 1982. Took it to the range and shot it. Got the Tasco scope zeroed in and she hits center every time. Assuming I can sit still :-) now to clean her up and put a coat of True Oil on the stock and she will be a beauty! Thanks everyone for all of your tips!!! So much appreciated!

Thank You  Sunsetview45 for starting this thread. Looks like I'm back down the rabbit hole again!

My birthday is coming up in November and had thought of a 22 bolt action practice gun to compliment my Remington 700 police in 308 cal.

After seeing "fyimo" picture of the CZ 455 combo I spent all night and early morning researching the different bolt action rifles.

Ended up buying a new old stock CZ model 452 22lr bolt action rifle for $425.
Now the search for base rings and scope begins. Going to try and keep this build under $1000.

Sunset, you've made an excellent choice. The Model 60 is an outstanding rifle for its price. Marlin made millions of 'em and countless small game has been put in the pot with them. :D

posted by Bonkers:
What I left OUT of my previous post is the fact that the S&W can be easily fitted with a sound suppressor if desired.

The 10/22 does not have this option.

I beg to differ. The 10/22 Tactical Model comes from the factory with a threaded barrel. My .22 suppressor is the sole reason I own a 10/22. If not for the threaded barrel, I never would have purchased it.
And yes, I did have put about $100 in aftermarket parts into the trigger group to make it shoot as well as I wanted.

In 1994 I quite hunting and soon after sold all rifles and shotguns (except Browning 525 o/u).
Continued shooting trap, skeet and handguns.

Two years ago I bought a Colt AR15 in 5.56mm and last year I picked up a Remington 700 Police in .308 cal.

.308 cal ammo, especially match grade, is expensive and I'm not reloading so a quality .22lr bolt action rifle for range practice seemed in order.
Bought a 1982 Walther PPK/S .22lr pistol last year to slow down my 45acp shooting and found it a very fun practice gun.

while searching today, I'm finding some very nice scopes dedicated to .22 rimfire for around $150 and rings for $25, so this build will cost less that I thought.

I am 22 rifle poor. I've got all the old classic Wins & Rems and
several other older models. Also several hi dollar B/As. What I
would like to know is what makes the Remington Nylon 66, the
best 22 rifle ever made? I must have been standing behind the
door when that info was being taught.:D
