Will Testors paint thinner hurt the melonite finish on my shield? I bought some aluminum colored paint to do the trademarks and want to make sure I won't screw anything up before I start.
Melonite is not a coating... but a metal treatment. It goes deeper than just the surface of the metal. You will not hurt it with a little mineral spirits or some lacquer thinner. Just be careful not to get it on the composite parts.
I put aircraft stripper on my slide whenu was trying to get it down to raw stainless and you couldnt even tell i had done anything.... Thinner shouldnt hurt it at all... Had to blast the slide with aluminum oxide to remove the black
