Third Generation Smiths in TV & Film

Shows shot in Canada usually feature Berettas or Smiths simply because of their handgun laws, even when licensed. Even if the show supposedly takes place in the US, most cops seem to carry 92s or 5906s in the shows shot there.
Not to argue, but simply in the spirit of this topic, "Rookie Blue" is an ongoing prime time network series and follows big city cops likely in the Toronto area and while they seem to never come out and say it, it's absolutely Canadian in every way. I admit that I haven't watched it lately, but in my experience the show is Glock Glock Glock Glock and more GLOCK. Almost like it's the only handgun the prop department has access to. :p

Not sure if this was mentioned, but the gun used by Seth Rogen as a cop in SuperBad looked like a 5906. However when fired at the sign in the drunken parking lot scene, the safety is down the whole time.

Seth's was a 6906, I believe, while Bill Hader loaned his .45 to McLovin!

Sandra Bullock carried a 6906 in Murder By The Numbers

Grace Park carried a 3913(?) during the second season of Hawaii Five Oh

When she was welcomed to the unit, they presented her with a Kel Tec back up gun. Looked like a P-11.

Yeah, that's the point. Prop guys and armorers in Canuckistan don't have a whole lot to choose from.

5606/4006 and Beretta 92/96s are readily available, as well as 2nd gen Smiths. All pre Canadian Ban stuff.

A couple of pics of 645 transitional models. You can see why they are mistaken for a 4506.

;)

On last night's Hawaii 5-0 at the end the bad guy had a 3rd gen. Not sure which model.

Just my $00.02, but nobody was a bigger stud with a 3rd Gen S&W than Sonny Crockett....

Bump-
Captain America Civil War; Zemo (the bad guy) has what looks to be a 5906. Scene at the end, where he's talking to Black Panther, you very briefly see the unmistakable lines of a S&W of either 9mm or .40 (I recognized by the machining on the frame). Then the camera zooms to the actors, and you can see the slide safety.

I can't find an image of the frame online, but here are a couple of the slide

I notice the safety moves position in these shots, I guess they had several takes.

I was just thinking of this scene! I thought I was the only one who noticed the safety move LOL
