This little ruger has won me over...

Im glad here on the S&W forum we can all appreciate some other fine firearms.

I got a little bit of negative feedback about my ruger Sr40 but I'd agree with this statement about 95%. Some people are just simply die hard s&w fans.

It's the competition between companies that drops prices and increases quality. That's what makes our economy work. It also gives a wide variety of products for us to select just the right one.

I bought an SR 22 rifle for my son and an SR 22 pistol for my wife. Both are great guns. The pistol is as accurate as my Browning Buckmark and a lot more fun to shoot.

Check out CDNN.They have had the Ruger with 2 ten round mags and a rail mounted laser for 290 bucks!

This is a "must own" plinker!

I've seen internet banter that Ruger's SR22 is just a clone of Walther's P-22. I have both and anyone who has field stripped both can readily tell Ruger did not copy the Walther design.

As a footnote, although I have been very pleased with my Walther P-22, it does have a tendancy to be picky about the ammo it likes. That's not been a problem with my Ruger SR22 at all.

I had a walther for a short time and it was horribly ammo picky. My sr 22 will shoot the cheapest junk until it gets so dirty it wont shoot anymore

I had a Walther and I thought it was junk and got rid of it. My Grandchildren and I love the Ruger! There is no comparison, But I think the Ruger is mostly just a fun little plinker, but it`ll never come close to my S&W`s semi-auto or revolvers.

Oh trust me my gun safe is comprised of 95% smiths lol

Love my SR22! The only thing it doesn't like is Winchester super x match in the grey box. It has trouble ejecting every 3rd or 4th round, other than that it is one fun .22! Daughter came out from Florida this past summer and she enjoyed shooting it so much she went back and bought one for herself!

I've got the Walther P22, and dad's got the SR22. There's something about the way the P22 fits my hand that I prefer it, but the SR22 is a very nice shooting pistol. Only complaint my dad has about it is finding ammo right now...

Ok, that does it, guess I do have to save up for an SR22. I've got a stack of the MkII's. 6", Gov't and Competition Target, and a long tuber below that is one of the few late run factory D&T. It's a heck of a shooter, but might not be as handy as the SR22.

We all trust each other on S&W so I think your safe in taking our advice.....GO BUY ONE!

I've had the SR22 for about 2 years now.....one of my favorite guns to shoot. Except when i get really lazy and don't clean it for sometime between range visits, it never jams. Will shoot any ammo you can find without issues. User friendly for left hand shooter as well.

My Walther P22 was a jam always gun.

I persisted, added an Exact Edge extractor, which helped immensely (the original extractor didn't come CLOSE to the rims). How do you spell quality control?

Finally got Smith to replace the original defective mags, and the gun is now 100%. I LIKE the looks of the pistol, and carry it often on the farm.

BTW, Smith has officially deemed the extractor defective, and will send you a replacement, at some undetermined point in time.
