Thoughts on the CSX

You know what works even better to judge the trigger on a gun, live fire it at a range. I would never judge a gun by one dry fire and a gun store "experts" opinion.

^This. Years ago I bought a Ruger LC9s because I liked the feel of it in my hand and the easy trigger. I can't shoot it worth a damn.

I got my new CSX to the range today. I put about 250 115 gn. Hardball and about 20 147 gn. HST through it. It ate all of them flawlessly. I was worried about everything I heard about the trigger reset. I had absolutely no problems.
I guess I "ride" the trigger as I never fully take my finger off of it. No problems at all. The trigger pull, to me, was short and "stiff". It's not a competition trigger. Mine was shooting slightly left. I drifted the rear sight slightly. At 25 ft, with bench rest I was getting them in the center fine. As a defensive shooter I feel if I can get most of my shots in an 8 inch target fast I am happy. I had no problem at 25 feet.
I really like this pistol. Small, 12 +1 capacity, good sights for the size, Reliable. None of the "false reset" problems I have read about on the interwebz. Everything I had hoped it would be. A smoother trigger would be nice. A couple more 200+ round range sessions and I will have no problem carrying this.
I am able to use my SIG P938 holsters with this. Almost the exact footprint of the 6 +1 SIG.
I agree with IAM Rand's review. A great CC Pistol
Note: This target is rapid fire function testing at 25 feet.

You're quite right, and I never claimed the guy at the counter was an "expert." Nor was I in the market for a pistol. I was curious to handle the CSX, and thought it noteworthy that the often-cited trigger had made an impression even on the people selling the product.

I don't spend my hard-earned money wildly, so did not want to waste any or any more of the diminishing minutes I have on earth on such an unimpressive gun. I'm perfectly happy with the guns I have, and apologize if this sent you into righteous indignation mode regarding this pistol.

It's a good trigger and a good gun. Take it from someone who has shot it a lot over someone who has only handled it at a gun store.

Back when I was looking for a compact-9 to fill some random unmet need the CSX was one I definitely looked at. I will admit, however, that my eternal love for all things 3rd Gen S&W got the better of me and I decided to spend the money on an unfired example of the 6904 I purchased from a member here on the forum.

The CSX and the 6904 may not be a direct comparison to each other, but everything about the 6904 just felt better to me - either because of my personal shooting style or because I have several other examples of 3rd Gens already in my safe and have become so accustomed to them.

In fact, just writing this post reminds me that I haven't been to the range in a while - and today feels like a good day to remedy that!

I am not a pistol expert or an expert's son nor claimed to be one on the internet BUT for me it is the best self-defense, concealed carry pistol I have owned. I could not give a rat's *** what someone that doesn't own one or shot one thinks.

This is a really good point….and why I have refused to comment so far.

I was in the market for a small belt carry 9mm….I prefer SAO. The CSX was top of that list. I handled and dry fired a bunch.. and other makes/models. I strongly prefer the Shield Plus w/ safety I bought. I'm willing to buy or rent a gun to try it out, but first impressions have to be better to get to that point.

The gun caught my interest when they were announced. Being an old 1911 guy, I have no problem with the SA or cocked and locked carry.
I finally got my hands on one at a gun show a few weeks ago. Nice little gun, felt good in my hand. But also felt a little too small. I wondered about recoil and recovery on such a small, light 9mm. Being a gun show, the action was tied and I didn't get to try the trigger.
I didn't like the magazine spacer that just slides over and fits loosely. Just seemed like a sloppy design to me.
I liked it, but not enough to buy it. Maybe after they've been out for a while and become available on the used market I'll buy one.

And S&W should bring back the CS D/A series also. I could use a blued CS-9. Am sure they would move like hotcakes in this day and age of compacts in .380 9MM and 45.

I put another 200 rnds though my CSX and it just confirmed the reason why I bought it, a compact well functioning gun. If I have to bet my life on it, I am confident that it will do it and then some.

Some people like Fords, some like Chevrolet, some like Toyotas. Some like trucks, some sedans, and some passenger vans. You can't please everyone with one type of vehicle nor should you. I won't convince people here that the CSX is a one size fits all gun. Like it or don't, I don't care. I think that S&W is on the right track and I hope then continue down this road. Kinda sick and tired of plastic guns. Give me a good hunk of metal any day. It also seems that most people here that don't like it change something on all the guns they own anyway so..........:p

I really want a CSX but have heard they have issues liking for thoughts from people that have them.
The trigger pull is a bit stout compared to My Shield M2.0 and the Plus but other than that is a keeper.
OOPS, I already responded to this :D
