When ever I sell a Gun I usually try to replace it before the Money Vanishes like a Puff of Smoke. I recently sold My 4.2" M69 in favor of the 2.75" version. I'm taking a hard look at the New M27 Classic. Yeah I know that it has a keyhole, and MIM Parts but that doesn't Concern me, I'm not that much of a Purist.
So who among us has a M27 Classic and how do you like it. I haven't decided on a 4, or 6 incher.

I don't have the 27 but do own a 586 Classic. I like it quite a bit (The hole and MIM parts never stopped me from liking ANY S&W revolver.) Fit, finish and function is Very good. Trigger was good too (but did get slicked up with a spring kit.) . Bluing is not up to 1960's standards better than I would expect in a current production gun.
As to the Model 27 Classic, I've eyed (and molested )them myself at the shop on more than a few occasions. A 6" 27 Classic could very well be next on my S&W take home list.

That said, I have noticed that the Classics can be a hard sell to many of our customers. Not sure why, but they don't fly off the shelf ( Any caliber/model. New or used.) at near the rate as their stainless, "high capacity" counterparts. If you buy one, make sure it's something you really want because your likely to find a flat market if/when you decide to sell.

Mine is probably 10 years old right now, but I like it

This is not a Great picture

This has one of the nicest nickel jobs that I have seen from the Factory. That was kind of what convinced me ti add this one as I own plenty of other 27/327/627 revolvers.

Seems well made, but I think their attempt at checkering the top strap is laughable. If you've never seen/owned a vintage 27 or 627, you won't know what I am talking about.

The attached photos show the difference:

I have a M29-10 I got used off this forum. It had 10000 rounds thru it when I got it, and about 1500 more since. The trigger is smooth as glass and it feels every bit as nice as any of my older Smiths.

It's my favorite gun, and I've got a bunch, both new and old.

Here it is after a factory reblue:

I have one with the 4" barrel. Even with the stock springs it has a smooth DA pull and an exceptional SA pull. it handles lead bullets with almost no leading. The finish is good. I bought it for a shooter and am entirely pleased with it.

The biggest drawback for me personally with the new model 27's is the fact that they don't offer them with a nickel finish. I am partial to nickel guns. As far as trigger feel goes, I think that after breaking it in and installing a lighter rebound slide spring it can have as good a trigger as an old model 27. At least that is what I found with my 627 Pro.

I had a 27-9 I bought used, for a short time, and liked it. Looked good, nice trigger, shot just fine. I sold it to buy something else, and didn't have any trouble selling and got my price for it too. I had thought I might get another one, one of these days, but I stumbled onto a 27-2 with a 4" barrel.

I've got a "Classic" 19-9 now, that I like quite a bit also. The trigger on that one is also VERY nice. It is the best shooting Model 19 I've owned.

A few months ago, I bought the 27 Classic in 6.5". Love it. Nice trigger. Shoots great. I put a set of old style target grips on it.

Can't help you much on that one;I have been on the warpath since 5 years ago looking for a Mod 27 in 5''.So don't count on me to tell you if a 4'' is better than a 6 or vice versa!
