I went to the thrift store today and for a lousy $14 bought two pair of brand new Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots on pair in brown and one pair in black, sorry no box or papers :D While I knew nothing about them at first, I could tell they were decent boots buy the way the were built. I figured they were probably a nice set of $80 shoes, both pair fit so I bought them and brought them home.

When I did a search for them on the net I was shocked to find these things are hand made in America from the finest materials in the old way and sell for $325 a pair. Now if I could only find S&W Revolvers that cheap. :)

Holy cow - great snag! I bet you'll be able to get those resoled at least 2-3 times before the uppers wear out. Those are the kind of foot gear that will probably take you through life up to, and even including the grave.

Congratulations and I hope you bought a lotto ticket.

Regards,

Dave

Wolverine began in my Dad's hometown of Rockford Michigan. They also make Hush Puppy shoes.

When I actually worked for a living, I wore Wolverines. 27 years. My last pair is in the closet downstairs and goes with me when ever I take out the trike. Good score.

I do all my shopping at thrift stores these days, as Smith357 found, you can find quality items at a deep discount.

I will jump in and mention I got a set of new Danner boots at goodwill for $50.00 after Christmas. The military bought a whole lot of these to issue to soldiers in Afghanistan, made in the USA(one of the purchase requirments). It seems a soldier got them and then never wore them or only slightly.
My wife said she only saw me get more excited when I found a new gun!!

With a new pair o' overhalls an white socks, you're all set for weddings and funerals!
Boutineer goes on the LEFT strap. ;)
(black ones are the formal ones)
:D

My dairy farmer Dad wore those every day of his working life. They don't hold up real well when soaked daily in cow manure.

Every pair of shoes I had until I was a teenager looked like those. I still hate'em.

A thousand miles a pair? Why did you need two?

Let me know if you find a pair of pants with and equivalent rating on the seat.

Uh-oh.
Doesn't sound good if bull manure is as bad.........
he's on this board every day.

But right now I'm barefoot and it's squishing between my toes :)

OK, about 2 months ago I found a pair of Orvis Zambezi Twill Pants and a pair of BlackHawk Tactical Pants in my size at a local thrift store. I did need to hem the Tactical pants and a couple of pairs of Victorinox Swiss Army pants. but for $4 each I can handle hemming a pair of pants.
