Well another business in Texas is stepping on our 2nd amendment rights, this time specifically targetting CHL holders. Yesterday I stopped by FedEx to drop off a package and they were putting up a new sign basically stating:

"Pursuant to statute #.... the holder of a concealed handgun license may not enter these premises while carrying a concealed handgun."

Guess it's time to take my business to UPS.

1. If it's concealed, how are they going to know?

2. If wearing OWB, just lift up clothing and make it an open carry weapon.

UPS isn't much better.

I tried to ship a gun back to the manufacturer for service and they wouldn't take it without a copy of an FFL. Even after pointing out where I'm allowed to ship a gun without a copy of ffl for service, they still refused.

If the United States Post Office wants to get solvent again, they should allow us to ship handguns.

We gun owners have been getting shafted by Fedex and UPS for years. Leaving a concealed carry piece outside the building is not nearly as big a deal to me as having to pay $60 for overnight air because some of their employees are not honest.

FedEX left a handgun I purchased at my doorstep last week. After that experience, I will never ship FedEX again.

In NYC, over a decade ago FedEx would not accept cash for any shipments they had so many robberies. Fully signed at the door.

Kinda funny, two different times I had to send guns back to S&W for some work. They sent me Fed-Ex labels, and Fed-Ex came to my door for the pickup. When they were returned I got a call from Fed-Ex so I would be home for each returned package.

If I recall, UPS would not ship guns, at least that is what CS at S&W told me, because we have a drop off / warehouse just 2 miles from my home, and I thought that was more convenient for me. But they said I could call Fed-Ex for the pick-up.

And if I recall, the Fed-Ex rules state you have to notify the driver of the contents if it is a gun. I did the first time they came to pick up the package and he didn't care; I didn't notify the driver the second time and it still made it to S&W.

I wonder if that Texas thing is at all the Texas Fed-Ex offices or just that one? Perhaps the manager is a hoplophobe? Or is there some local ordinance?

well perhaps they wont...but lets say Mr John Law stops you as you exit because lets or say your brake light is burned out......so he asks for your DL and you give him that and under Texas Law he must also get your CHL because you are carrying...so he asks if you have your handgun on you.....You exercise your right to remain silent...(a good choice here) and he pats you down (he can you know) and he finds your gun....He just watched you walk out of FedEx so you get to go to jail and if your lucky the charges are dismissed and if not you get your choice of going to trial and risking a 10 year sentence for Carrying Places Prohibited, or pleading no contest and getting probation...In any event you loose you right to carry......great choice right....so you see that sign...why give them your money......but not disarming before you enter....No sir that's a poor choice, and fits the definition of "Knowingly, intentionally or recklessly" carrying in places prohibited.

I agree Fed-ex and UPS have robbed us for years and they don't use a gun. I never use either of them to ship anything if I have a choice.

Don't blame FedEx- blame the shipper.
If a signature was required, they would have gotten it. The shipper did not require it, so they didn't get it.

This area is more for discussion of legislation about 2nd A issues, not business practices.
