I have always always worn Levi's, and for the last 5 years it has been the 527s for me. I like boot cut jeans, and I like to have between 3-5 pairs of different colors of the same cut (hence I loved the 527s). I started to road bike about 8 months ago though, right after my son was born, and now my thighs won't fit in the 527s. Also they made them low rise about 2 years ago for some strange reason? Levis makes a 517, but only in a couple colors so I started to look at Wranglers.
Sorry for the long intro, but question is how much do the 100% Cotton 0936 Cowboy Cut Slim Jeans shrink? and where? (length, waist, etc.). The lady at the store said "1 inch in the waist, 1 inch length" though I figured I would ask the all knowing forum. Gotta be someone on here who wears them!!! I really liked the fit, cut, and not low rise-edness. Also they feel really terrific and I've heard great things about the durability.
Thanks all!

Update: The "Cowboy Cut" in General, where does it shrink? Looks like it comes in loose, slim, and regular.

I like them and have always worn them. They are higher waisted, and your wallet pocket is higher so you don't sit on it. Much more comfortable. You need a nice solid belt for them.

They will shrink a little, but I don't think an inch. By them at least 2" longer in length if you wear boots. They are made to "stack up" on your boots. I don't wear the slims, just the regular. If I'm a little in between in the waist I round up. A hot dryer will always shrink and tighten them up.

They'll last forever and they're very comfortable. Traditional jeans that take a few washings to lose some of that stiffness.

They were a little loose fitting for me so I went to sumpin else.

I've been wearing Wranglers for a long time. The past 10+ years as part of my uniform, and as regular walking around pants too. I haven't noticed that they shrink, but I wear the pre washed regular fit kind. They fit good and wear pretty well. I have to buy new ones about every year or so. It always cracks me up when the western store lady (usually about a 20 year old) asks me if I want slim fit...... uh, no thanks, regular fit please.

WHY are you still wearing jeans made by ANTI-GUN Levi Strauss co.??

I had no idea they were anti-gun!! That gives me all the more incentive. But I'm sorry I like slim fit jeans haha I dont' care for that extra fabric and they're not skin tight! I just like the fitted look since I'm a skinny dude.

Check out this American manufacturer. They make different styles, including boot cut and a kevlar lined riding jean called the Defender. I've been wearing their jeans a couple of years, and they make a good looking, durable product...

I wore Levis for over 40 years, never could get Wranglers over my butt, and my thighs are a bit muscular from years of weightlifting so the skinny jeans are also out. Levis got expensive and didn't fit me that well so I started wearing JC Penny brand jeans. They are priced at 36 bucks but are nearly always on sale for about $22, and their boot jeans are a little tight in the legs but their relaxed fit is about perfect for me. You can get them prewashed and soft or dark blue and stiff and I have 6 or 7 pairs in different shades and colors.

I've worn them about forever as well, remember they used to be made by Blue Bell? Anyway, they WILL keep shrinking a little every time you wash and dry them, I suggest the new cold water detergents to mitigate this and at least here in Az. take them out of the dryer before they're super toasty. They do shrink as long as you wash them, anything 100% cotton washed and dried does as far as I know. Talking about slim-fit, my son, pushing 30 now wore 29 x 40 slim fits for years, but now that he is married and all that that comes with, he told me the other day he thought he might try the regular fit next time, haha. I got a kick out of that. He has always been a long lanky stringbean, but has actually started to gain some weight like dear old Dad.

the regulars definitely shrink. I think they are awesome and I don't wear any other jeans. The other colors seem to run with more room in the buttocks and thighs.

Levi's = junk. Surprising how they cheapened up the fabric and skimped on the cut, yeah, low rise=less of the cheap fabric for an even less cost to make product.
I moved on the Lee and they might be worth a look, almost no shrinkage on their pre washed jeans, lots of colors too it you are that kind of guy.

I usually wear the Slim Cut Wranglers. I really don't like the small pockets in them though. Wrangler sells some marked "Rugged Wear" on the leather patch on the waist line. They are a little roomier and the pockets will accept a 642 in a pocket holster. Works for me.

I've been wearing Wranglers for a number of years as well. The price for Levi's just went up more than they were worth. A little trick I do is only dry them about half way on a lower heat which I use on all my cloths I think it is easier on the fabric. When I take them out of the dryer I put the bottom of the leg on the floor, step on it and give the pants a little tug to "maybe" stretch them back out. Then hang them on a wooden cloths drying rack until dry. Does it work? They do seem to keep the length.
