Terribly sorry for your loss. Heartfelt prayers sent your way and to all the men and women in harm's way.

As I write this there was a brief piece on the local TV about your son.
I am fortunate enough to get to serve these veterans medical needs on their return and see many of them. I leave my job every day thinking what great kids we grow in this country and they mostly look like your son, or my friend's son (who is with a SEAL support team in Afghanistan); proud, committed, strong, everything we value and love.
I am sad beyond words at the loss of your son. My son is nine and I sometimes look at the veterans I see and realize that every one of them was someone's nine year old.
I am so very, very sorry and hope that God will help you through this terrible time.

Thank you all again so much for the caring and kind remarks. Elijah's mother and I received word tonight from the Army that Elijah has been promoted posthumously from Specialist to Sargent E5. Of course he also receives the Purple Heart and has been recommended for a Bronze Star.

Elijah's body was received at Dover USAF Base at 5:11 pm EST, so this hero is now back on American soil and one step closer to coming home. Elijah's wife has granted permission to the media to photograph and film the Dignified Transfer of Elijah's remains at Dover. These images are available online with Google search.

Extended family gathered today and amidst it all, the media has been calling throughout the day. All of this in Elijah's honor and memory. We are so very grateful for the overwhelming recognition that is due to Elijah.

Here are some links to news stories about Elijah.

DHart, we've all missed having you around here and I guess you can see that a lot of people here truly care for you and your terrible loss.

I've shed a tear too, learning of this awesome young father's death and I will be praying for you and the entire family in this very difficult time.

May God comfort you all and yes, I've seen enough to know that He is very real indeed.

Again, words cannot express my feelings and sympathy at this moment for you and all your kin.

As a veteran myself, I truly appreciate the brave ones who in every age of our country's existence were willing to lay everything on the line to protect our very blessed way of life.

He was one of America's very, very best indeed!

Sincerely,

Tom Turner

My heart goes out to you in enduring what no father should have to endure. Your son was a hero, and patriot. This is one of the most viewed and replied to threads I have ever seen on the forum, and for good reason.

God bless you and your family. I think of all military personnel as I rest tonight. For without them, who knows where we would be. Certainly with less freedom than we enjoy today. Politics and personal opinions aside, may your family seek peace in the fact that your son gave his life to serve the 300 million+ others than reap the benefits of his sacrifice. Words can not express what the men and women like him mean to our nation.

Prayers with you,
AJ

Nothing can express my sympathy towards you and your family. I just can't imagine your feelings at this time of loss. God bless you and your family.

I saw you sons story on the news this morning and I am deeply saddened by your loss. I thank you for the service and sacrifice your son paid for all of us to keep us safe and free from the evil that would be unleashed upon this nation if they weren't over there. Let it be known, your son did not die in vein.

I am sorry for your loss, and appreciative of your son's, your family's and your sacrifice for our country.

My heart goes out to you and your family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I can appreciate where you were before this news was delivered to you. My older son is currently on his third deployment, 2nd time in Iraq and I check my emails everyday, multiple times to see if there's a brief message from him.

May your son live on in the memories of you, his other family members, fellow soldiers and friends for many years to come.

Steve
