Your model of this special run of PC pistols for RSR is now the only one for which we don't know production numbers. Thanks to copies of Jinks letters, we've known for a while that the 45 Recon was produced in 603 units. As of recently, the 9 Recon was documented as being 419 units. So, to fill this hole in the knowledge base, here are a couple of questions for you owners of the 40S&W caliber version:

1. Anybody have a Jinks letter for your gun that you'd care to share with us to nail down the number produced?

2. A quick search of photos of these on the Internet reveals serial numbers up to RRS 0185. (I guess the "RSR" prefix must have already been used by 1998 when these guns were made.) Anybody have one with a higher number?

For a long time, we thought there were 212 of the 9 Recons because that's the highest number anybody knew of, so as a result, it was assumed that the 9 Recon was probably the lowest production model of the Recon guns. That's out the window now, though, so let's see if maybe we can determine if the 40 Recon had a lower production and is therefore the rarest.

Hoping to hear from you all!

One-time bump to the top, still seeking owners. Thanks.

Well it seems that either no one here has one, (doubtful,) or is not "up to date" and checking in.

I do intend to get one, but it'll take some time of course due to my criteria, (great shape "almost" new and it HAS to be "reasonably" priced.) So obviously it'll take some time for me to help even if one was available. HINT HINT. (Well that worked here with me getting my Shorty 45 MKII and my Non-Railed 7rnd 45TSW. ;))

I'm joking of course but if it's that critical in our minds to find out total production numbers, just get two, three or four of us to pay for a factory letter using one of the known serial numbers. Hah we got the number. :D

Again, I sure wish RSR had an Earl Minot cause his "letters" are, (were,) pretty cool and for years free.

As with collecting, part of the fun of sussing out production numbers is finding them "in the wild," so to speak.:) No, it's not critical that we know them, just an interesting endeavor, sorta like putting a puzzle together.

I hope you find your 40 Recon, 4T5Guy, and who knows, maybe in the meantime, someone will come up with a Jinks letter that will establish production numbers for us. 'Course, if the 40 Recon turns out to be the lowest-production version, then you'll probably end up having to pay more to get yours. :);)

Heck, even if owners here have guns that aren't numbered higher than the one skjos saw, I encourage them to post up some pictures. After all, when's the last time you saw a thread dedicated to the 40 Recon? :D

if ya got it, flaunt it!

It becomes a very small world when we start talking about these small run PC's.

I saw that 0185 and thought it looked "different". It does but in my search it's looked like that every time it's been sold so it's looked like that for a while now.

Oh, and now it has found an aluminum PC case. I forgot to mention that.

I saw a member just scored a Recon 40 recently (RRS0160), and thought I would bump this thread up to see if any other new owners might have some serial number information they would like to share.

RRS0027

I'm glad I found this forum.

I own RRS0027 I love the gun. I got it from my father-in-law when he passed.

I have the original metal box, the manual, about 19 rounds that were on the magazines and his hoster.

I know he bought it new and didn't use it a lot.

Your father-in-law made a very wise purchase and liked you enough to pass it to you. I'd say you must be a very good son-in-law or "just plain LUCKY".:D

Here is a pic of my RRS0160. I took the houge grips it came with off and put factory grips. I know it came with the Houges but I like the look of factory grips
