Triple Lock 221 Saved from the parts bin

bmg60:

Thank you for having Triple-Lock s/n 221 repaired and refurbished. She's now ready to live her second century in health, dignity and style!

That is a great looking triple-lock! I know that Fords can redo the lettering before refinishing. They were able to fix my 44 mag.

A the risk of this being considered hijacking, at what point does it make sense to restore a piece? I often see pieces that are in poor shape, not extremely collectible, but that I would enjoy having. In some cases, I could likely buy the worn piece and have it restored for less than I would expect to pay for a pristine version, that I would then not want to shoot. Forgive my ignorance and thanks for being tolerant, but opinions would be appreciated. What would one expect to spend to "restore" a handgun like that?

By the way, that is a beauty!

a. It must have little or no collectible value
b. It's something cool and/or unusual, like a TL
c. You need to have enough disposable income to afford the cost without worrying about how dumb it is to spend money that way.
