This has probably been covered ad nauseam here but I'd love to read your comments on and see your photos of "the finest revolver ever made," the .44 Hand Ejector 1st Model, affectionately aka the S&W Triple Lock.

Also reading that some of the Spanish clones, especially the ones manufactured by P. Aranzabal-Eibar are pretty sweet. My collection needs a Triple Lock. Appreciate any and all wisdom you can share with me...

I like my two triple locks. I've had more over the decade of my gun collecting, but a buddy talked me out of my 4" (he loves it more than I do, but I honestly miss it). My others went to make way for other guns, as happens when your gun desires outstrip your resources.

The two I am left with please me greatly, despite both being "wrong".

Increasingly more Interesting Triple Lock *update*

While I might pick up a cheap triple lock that is "normal" if I chance on one at a gunshow, I doubt I will ever really pursue them again. Not because there is anything wrong with them, but that they just are more valuable than interesting at this point. For what they go for I'd rather just put that money in an envelope marked "Registered Magnum" and buy more of those.

Of course, that opinion was only formed by owning some really grand TLs and shuffling them back into the great material continuum.

I've owned a few including a target. Only have the 4" currently. Just realized I've owned a 4", 5", and 6.5" Target but never a fixed sight 6.5".

These two were LE guns (SWHF is an amazing resource). I prefer flattop frames for fixed sight guns and pre war target sights so TL's aren't my primary focus.

By concentrating on the 44 S&W Special chambering you are missing out on the 455 Wesley and the origin of the species, the 45 S&W Special!

Here is my 455, New Century, built in 1914.

I have a couple of shooters. They are fun to take to the range and pass around. The young kids can't believe that they can shoot a gun that's over 100 years old.

Here is my first TL, which apparently was owned by a lawman named William Deaton of Alva, OK. His name and other information are written in ink on the inside of the genuine pearl grip panels. The front sight is far too tall and it shot to the left, so instead of filing it lower I installed a WonderSight (not shown here). Now it shoots to point of aim.

This is my factory target TL with some vintage custom grips on it. I have since found a pair of original style grips for it.

I also have a custom target TL that was built on a .455 British revolver, which was rechambered to .45 Colt and a King-like target rib with adjustable sight added to the top. I don't currently have any pics of it, the ones that I did have were lost in a hard drive crash.
