Living in NJ we can CC Twinkies, you've all heard of the Twinkie defense right?

But really, I wouldn't use the current crop for a door stop, they are lousy.

Hostess fruit pies are also on my never buy again, maybe they drag an apple through the factory but there's no fruit in the pie.

It's treason, I tell ya, there ought to be a law.

MattO has the news and I checked it further.

With Monday, Wal-Mart will have deep fried Twinkies in the frozen section.

They must be oven baked or toaster oven finished at home.
To accomplish the "frying" Hostess has more than doubled the fat content and nearly doubled the calories of Twinkies.

Ghost Busters Twinkies

About 6 weeks ago we were grocery shopping and saw a Twinkie display. It had boxes of Ghost Buster Twinkies. So we bought a box.

The box said Key Lime Filling? I Love Key Lime Pie! But I'm a diabetic, and don't eat many sweets or snack cakes any more. But I had to have one!

Yuck! It was nasty! Just plain ole nasty! I understood the concept. Green Ghost Busters slime. But the filling had NO taste. The cake was slimy greasy. Just wasn't what I was expecting?

Boy, that was a total bummer!

One time we had a birthday party or something in my 6th grade classroom. Kids brought sweets of various kinds and soda. Somebody brought some Hostess snowballs. I said hey, did you ever notice how if you cut a snowball in half you can carefully peel the frosting off the cake in one piece, making a little bowl? The kids thought that was pretty cool and started doing it with all the snowballs. I said let's do an experiment. Let's fill all the bowls with coke and put them in a cookie sheet in case they melt and leave them overnight. Everyone speculated on what the result would be but the next day, there was zero mess. The frosting bowls held up to the phosphoric acid in the Coke just fine. Near as I can figure the Hostess frosting is pure grease spun up with sugar and chemical preservatives.
It's truly amazing some of the ghastly junk we call "food".
