I like that 640, I've come real close to buying one a couple times but bigger guns got in the way. Please excuse the newbe question, is that bottom feeder a scandium frame and slide?

And
Poor Hedley is bumming...big-time!

Enjoy the weekend

OH! Poor Hedley.....

I bought a S&W 1911PD on 7/3 about 8yrs ago.
Good luck w/ your new toys.

Thanks Chris. You are half right on the 1911. The slide is stainless. I took them both to the range yesterday and both performed flawlessly. Running 357 mags thru the 640 felt like a hard push, unlike that crisp snap from a 44 mag. Like a dummy I left the wood grips on the whole time and now I'm missing the top layer of skin on my thumb. The 1911PD is amazingly accurate and lots of fun to shoot.
Oh yeah, poor Hedley was stoned as a bat in that picture but he's a hundred miles an hour now!!:D
Still waiting to hear how that new PC shoots.

Enjoy the 4th brother.
The "tin knocker"

When I was a kid, I always got a new "cap" gun on the Fourth. Guess it's time to renew that tradition with something that shoots more than caps. Just before I opened this thread, I was thinking that I "need" a new Model 63 really bad.

By the way, you done "done good" on your "two new sweethearts".

As for Hedley...think positive...now he has less to lick when he is cleaning himself up.

Enjoy your range time. Beats the heck out of lighting off firecrackers.

What's the going rate on 640's these days? I saw one in a shop yesterday for $400. Factory grips, no box. Is that decent or just average? There's probably a little wiggle room on it.

Dang! I thought I did good at $450. You should jump on that like a rat on a Cheeto!!

I came across these two sweethearts last week. A 640-1 dated 9/6/95 and a 1911PD Jan 2011. It's a rainy 4th here in Ga., great day to see how these two run at the INDOOR range!:D

I got two new toys and poor Hedley lost his two toys.
Sweet looking guns, One pissed of looking Hedley  lol

Congrats!

Did you Flitz the 640 a little? It looks great. I ask because mine came new with a barrel that looked a little less polished than the frame. Seen many 640s that way. Just curious.

Enjoy them!

Mark, thanks. I did give it a light going over with Mother's. The gun already had a good shine when I got it.

Nice 1911! I did not realize some of the PD's came with a rail.

Thanks! I'm far from being a 1911 expert but I believe all the S&W PDs came with the rail. The newer E series 1911s come with or without depending on the model.
