UFO’s...

Soooo I'm guessing you're saying those Navy fighter pilots are crackpots?
Objects flying in ways we can only imagine. Seen by some of our brightest servicemen.
Look at the Hubble Deep Field image attached. It's of a small segment of the sky, 1/24,000,000th. One twenty four millionths!
Each point of light is a galaxy containing perhaps millions of stars. Possibly thousands of stars in each galaxy would have planets in "The Goldylocks Zone" to support life as we know it.
Mathematically speaking, life beyond earth is a certainty.

At the fastest speed ever reached by an Atlas 5 rocket, how long would it take to get from earth to the nearest earth-like planet?

Many generations.

So, why would someone think that visitors from another planet would spend many, many years to come here?

Since those craft fly so fast and turn such sharp angles, I suggest it would be much easier to find where they came from since that would be a stationary planet. Go Hubble !

Big difference between a "Way Point" and a "Stupid Check",

So, me is pretty sure that the only proven aspect of this issue is that they are referred to "Intelligent life" for a good reason.

I'm not ready to stock up on aluminum foil or fall for the all new anti-alien palladium coated FMJ 9800fps stuff. At least not until I resolve my Y2K issue.

so what happened to the career's of the pilots that claimed they saw an UFO? the sound they heard was their flying careers (military and civilian) going down the tube. they are now at a base quite ways southwest of Cairo flying a desk. I can't say the name here.

They're not flying Atlas slowpoke rockets! And they need bases and probably minerals and may be underway to taking over here. Eventual trade and alliances are other possible goals.

So, the gov. knows about them. But they don't want billions of people freaking out. So, many years have been used to prime the public. Movies like ET, Star Trek, etc. Who would fear Mr. Spock? Then add scary movies like Alien, The Day the Earth Stood Still, etc. But we came out OK in those too. District Nine, Alien Nation, etc, they are already here. So, I hope they are more like Vulcans than Klingons. Wookies rule! Princess Leah can stay at my house.

If you follow through with this logic you couldn't fly an airplane for fear of bumping into a spacecraft there would be so many of them. If every millionth galaxy was capable of space travel we'd be loaded with them.

I've talked to people that I consider a good source of information that are sure that UFO's, Bigfoot, Ghosts exist. Having never experienced any of the previous I have no reason to believe in them, a possibility sure...no facts or scientific data to back them up...I'm out. I have heard a wierd call while camping way up North that I could not identify that raised the hair on the back of my neck, I've heard cougars make different sounds but nothing like that one. I knew a guy that claimed to have worked with the National Geographic Society and their study on Bigfoot, he told plenty of stories but when asked "Do you believe it exists?" He said as much as he'd like to he still has doubts because nobody he considered relevant had ever seen one or remains enough to scientifically prove it.
I'd like to believe in ghosts and have gone out of my way to sleep in "haunted" houses and caves...no dice for me. I've heard stuff but there always was something that made the sound. Once I near tore a furnace apart looking for the racket, turned out to be an attachment on the exhaust that flapped and made a tapping sound, everybody else in the family said the place was haunted...your imagination will definitely play mind games on your sense of reality.

If you were a highly intelligent life form
capable of traveling through vast spaces,
would you keep coming back to this
planet decade after decade after decade?

I suppose so if just to find out just how
far stupid can go.

How so?
I never said they'd all be capable of intergalactic navigation. Some may be knuckle draggers or microbes. Not every civilization would be advanced enough, and if some were, what would they all want to visit here for. We maybe a rather boring to them, a mere curiosity.
