just now saw your post. I had to get one got tired of being delayed or turned down all together....If I remember correctly it was about 2 months....so you probably got it by now....as you know put it on the 4473, it helps

Unique Personal Identification Number. Issued by FBI?BATFE (forget which) primarily for those who have very common names and I suspect those whose have experienced stolen identification would benefit also. The UPIN is assigned after you submit fingerprints and whatever other documents they require to establish you are NOT the person who keeps popping up as disqualified in a background check.
Muss, if you return to this thread, and have received a UPIN, how long did it take?

So, after four to six weeks, I received a response which contained the NCIC report that was as I expected it to be, but no UPIN and no direction as to how to move forward. So I gave up . . .
Jeez. Maybe call 'em up?
My younger brother has a common name and occasionally gets flagged during transfers. Was thinking of recommending getting a UPIN to him.
