Greetings everyone...

Well I received an ammo delivery today from Ammo to Go.

The UPS driver knocked on the door, I answered it. He seemed hurried no time for small talk, said sign, gave me box, said "we all know what this is" and ran back to his truck!

Almost like the old TV show the Munsters!

I just had feeling he thinks I am some kind of nut and was happy to be leaving. Oh well, I have two more orders on the way!

You should have yelled "BANG" at his retreating back.

He's lucky he wasn't the guy that brought me two cases of surplus .30-06.

Ahhaa....wonder what he was thinking..lucky he was nt delivering bulk ammo....lol

I think I have one of the coolest UPS drivers around, he has me on speed dial and will call me to make sure I'm home when he has a delivery.
But then again he's a gun guy and will stop by for lunch and conversation when it's not so busy.

I have been able to catch mine early when I know I have something coming in. When he sees me coming he will pull over or head to the back of the truck if he is already stopped. :) Sadly, after many years the route has changed and I no longer know where to find him in the morning. Too bad, it saved him a stop and kept me from waiting all day. :( Still, he is a good guy. :)

Wonder what our guy thought of this. They don't wrap it, ya know. :D

I once bought a 1000 rds of Wolf 7.62x 39 from a place about 20 miles from here. Figured it would take a day to ship and saved me the time to run down and pick it up. (I think I was on overtime at work) Anyway, I got home thinking they'd wrapped it in brown paper or another box. NOPE! Stock box with WOLF in big red letters. If my driver didn't know then of my "affliction", it then became clear! ;)

All my surplus comes in the original wooden crates, and the full cases of everything else comes in the manufactures box saying what it is with the ORM-D on it. I've never had to sign for ammo but the long boxes and the little overnight boxes I have to sign for. I had one driver say he wondered what was in the little box, he was a OK guy and delivered almost everyday so I showed him. Kinda looked at me and said you can't ship those, I told him I have a license then he left. Wonder what he thought came from a firearms dealer shipped overnight and had some weight to it without a ORD-D sticker. Guess he wasn't a gun person.

Given that UPS are currently Public Enemy No.1 for non-delivery of Xmas presents, I'm not surprised that he had little time for chit-chat.

I was having a pizza at the LGS at lunch one day (about 1997). In walks the UPS driver with a disgusted look on his face. We all laughed and walked out to the truck and started helping carry in 89 wooden cases of 7.62X39, 7.62X54R, 9mm Makarov and 7.62x25. When we finished, we gave him a piece of pizza and a coke and sent him on his way. One of the regulars bought all this, and similar quantities every 2 months or so. The UPS driver learned that Military Match 308 come 400 rounds in a 50 Cal can, when a 40,000 round order came in. (5 cans to the crate is too heavy for UPS.) Ivan

Few years back, I bought 5,000 rounds of .308 British-made surplus at a great price. My UPS delivery driver was a really cute, tiny little blonde that maybe weighed 90 pounds. I was mowing the lawn when she pulled up, so I unloaded it for her. She knew it was ammunition and asked me "how many bullets" there was. I told her. She looked puzzled and asked why I needed so much. Stealing a line from Jeff Cooper, I told her, "Because deer hunting season opens next month." She looked horrified. We never talked again.

In your driver's defense, they often don't think they have time to chat. They are given way too many packages to deliver in too little time.

So, no danger of an after action report of your date with the cute blonde?;):D

I have been in my current house for 22 years now and have had the
same UPS driver the entire time. He's getting pretty grey on top now
so I wonder how much longer he will continue. He has delivered ammo
out here many times over the years as well as other things. Always
friendly, professional and very brief. Always in a hurry. Time is money
to those guys. I don't think he would complain no matter what he had
to deliver. He has never asked or commented on what he was
delivering. I think he sees me as job security. Couldn't ask for any
better.

Wait till they have to drop off an anvil. LOL
Guess how many # of tool steel can be in one of those flat rate boxes.
But, then the delivery people around here know to come into machining portion of the shop. They have seen all kinds of knives being made and guns being worked on. The USPS lady is just nice, the UPS and FedEx guys have both enjoyed a tour and one bought a knife.

With their GPS routing they don't have time for a good chat but a few words they can do but never more then a couple of minuets.

I'm a forklift driver at my workplace and help unload the UPS truck daily. We get anywhere from 20 to 100 packages daily so there is lots of time for chatting while we unload. The driver is a shooter and a budding reloader so we have lot's to talk about. His next stop is Wal-Mart so we look thru the long guns that are loaded on the truck (just reading the end labels, not opening them). I am surprised that whoever their distributor is does not wrap the Remington's in brown paper. They are just sitting there plain as day in all their green glory.

You guys actually see and talk to the drivers? I'm in awe. My UPS and FEDEX deliveries end up in the driveway like Navy Seals rolling off a Rigid Inflatable Boat during a night beach assault.
