In another thread, there was some discussion about Federal efforts against terrorism. While detailed info on all would take pages and pages, here's a place for Mr. Google to get you started if you really have interest. Enjoy!

Watchlisting Assistance and Support Program (WASP)
Personal Identification Secure Comparison and Evaluation System (PISCES)
Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS)/Next Generation Identification (NGI) Biometric Interoperability
Interstate Identification Index (III) National Fingerprint File (NFF) - general felons plus terror suspects/wanted persons
INTERPOL's I-24/7 secure, global police-to-police communications system
EPIC - El Paso Intelligence Center (both counter narcotics and counterdrug cartel)
National Network of Fusion Centers (National Network)
International Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property (ICHIP) & GLEN

Not universal, but used for some operational purposes:

Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) supports fingerprint, face, and iris recognition for large-scale biometric identification.

Here's one I'd like to see added to the list:

SPIN: Stupid Parents Identification Network, an agency that identifies parents of emotionally unstable, violence-obsessed teens, who try to make them "happy" by buying them firearms.

There IS actually the SPIN law enforcement intelligence network in Sarajevo and the Balkans. Same acronym, different purpose. :)
