SENIOR CITIZEN, I have been an insulin dependent diabetic for over 20 years and am now 63. I went through several years of depression, severe enough that I did not want to get out of bed in the mornings and some that I did not even try. No interest in life. Told my primary care guy and he gave me Prozac and Welbutrin which only added to the problem. Threw them away after a while and just told him I felt great. Well, on one visit he said that I should see a urologist so that I could get on a regimen to look after kidneys, etc. Went to the doc and they did blood work and returned in 2 weeks for consultation and doc said that my testosterone level was non existant and I remarked that was why I had no lead in the pencil and he looked at me and said "what's more you don't care". ell he had my attention then and he said that Testosterone was necessary for the overall sense of well being and that I would get shots every two weeks and that in 30 days the world would look a lot better. Well about the end of the 5th. week, the fog of depression lifeted and now I go and get my shots every two weeks and takes about 15 minutes. It makes a lot of difference when this old body works like God intended it to and thank goodness that there are people in the health care business who want to heal people. Been feeling good ever since. For all you guys out there, get your hormone levels checked if you are dealing with depression or loss of interest in your jobs, hobbies, etc.
