Got my letter today from S&w stating "your Smith& Wesson.38 Victory Model,United States Navy Contract, caliber .38S&W Special, revolver in company records which indicate that your handgun, with serial number V53413,was shipped from our factory on August 27,1942,and delivered to United States Navy,Oakland CA. The records indicate that this handgun was shipped with 4 inch barrel, military midnight black finnish, and smooth walnut grips." This revolver is void of U.S.or any military markings. Vince

Hi Vince:

Thank you for giving us the update on your Navy Victory. We will add that new information to the Victory Database. It is very interesting to see a Victory with no Navy markings letter as a Navy shipment as most of the Navy shipped guns at that time were marked "U.S. Navy" on the left topstrap.

Congratulations on a fine gun, and thanks again.

Aren't some of the early Navy direct purchase guns devoid of all martial markings?
