Hello cdmcdoug:
Your Victory likely shipped from the factory in March or April, 1944 as a Lend Lease gun.
You will want to double check a couple of things. First, make sure that the cylinder has not been modified to shoot .38 Special as a number of these guns were so modified. Second, the ejector rod was blued when it left the factory. In the photo it appears to be parkerized, although that may just be the lighting. Finishes are difficult to judge in online photos. If it is not blued then that can be an indication that it has been replaced or refinished.
Hope that info is helpful to you.
Regards,
Charlie
Charlie,
Thanks for the info on the shipping date. Is there any more info out there that I can get on the gun which would be useful? Would it be worth investing in a factory letter?
It has not been modified and is still .38 S&W.
I can't tell what the finish is on the ejector rod. Is there a way I can tell the difference?
Thanks,
Chuck
