I don't think there's been a photo thread here in a while on Victory's and pre-Victory's. At least not this year!

Here's a pre-Victory .38/200 with accessories. Lettered as shipped to South Africa on May 3, 1940:

Thats a fine looking and desirable rig. Great photo too.

Very neat old revolver. You have done a wonderful job of putting it into a historical context with your display. Thanks very much for your effort. Regards, Jerry

Brings to mind Maj. Robert Crisp's books, "Brazen Chariots" and, "The Gods Were Neutral".

He was a South African tank commander. Mentioned his .38, but didn't give the make.

Thanks for the kinds words. Sometimes searching for "accessories" can be just as rewarding as finding the old guns.

One of the forum members just posted on another thread asking about accessories for the Victory and I thought this might be a good opportunity to post some pics.

Many of the members here have some outstanding collections of WWII S&W's and great pics.

Here's a pic that I'm posting for a fellow forum member, Robert Bartlett.

US NAVY Victory and 1944 holster:

May I join this fraternity with my 5" m&p...#9017xx...proof marked with W.B., ordinance bomb and "P". It has smooth grips and polished blue finish. The reason I bought this weapon is because it is "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" (on left top strap)and it is 5 screw.I soaked it,cleaned and lubed it...can't wait to run some plain.38 rounds thru it!
best to all c.w.

Hi Linda, Thanks for posting the picture of my Victory,I'm struggling with a new computer and appreciate your help as well as the excelent photos you post. Your inclusion of interesting associated gear is great.Gun was shipped July 23, 1942 to Norfolk,Va. Sn.V17031,holster is marked U.S.N. Boyt,1944. Thanks again, Bart

Roger,
We are within about 15 miles of each other. Just curious if you can place a value on your rig?

I'm looking at a similiar rig (Victory and Holster from 1943). Any info on price range would help. Thanks.

Hi jed, Nov.07 article by Jim Supica says $400 to$750,dependent on condition, add 10 to25% for U.S.N..Throw in the holster, and you can be close to a Grand for an excelent specimen. Hows that for appreciation? Keep the vault locked!! Regards Bart

Roger-

Thanks for the quick response. I'll post some pictures of the Victory and holster after my 3 day wait!

Pilots name and Unit designator are on the holster. Trying to track down specifics if possible.

Jed

Just picked this one up!
Victory is serial number V1628XX, U.S. NAVY on topstrap.
Holster is marked USN Boyt 43 on rear.
Veterans name and air group VT-1 are written on the holster. Records show he was assigned to the USS Bennington and the USS Yorktown (2nd one) flying Grumman TBM Avengers.
