Was in a local Wallyworld today and noticed a couple of ARs on sale. When I asked the clerk about them she said corporate was having present stock liquidated and no more would be for sale at any stores nationwide. If true I guess they're going the way the Confederate flags went.

Has anyone heard anything about this new policy?

The Walmart here doesn't sell any kind of firearm and has very little ammo in stock. I guess it's different in other parts of the country.

Local WalMart had a .22lr AR on the shelf, usually have several. Busy this afternoon and since the "regular" counter guy was not there I didn't wait. Walmart has been back and forth on gun "policy" usually influenced by "events." I bought a Colt 6920 after the Newtown panic, paid $1248 OTD. Bought the same rifle from a local FFL, $815 delivered to my dining room table. Joe

Walmart's around Oklahoma had many AR15's from Colt's down to the cheaper ones but recently they have all disappeared. They still have wood stocked Mini-14s and lots of defensive shotguns and several of the shotguns have door breaching devices, so there must be a big demand for them(?). The the little Henry .22 lever action is the only gun they have that has a walnut stock and a few other guns have cheap Beech stocks and everything else is boring black plastic. I bought a Remington 700 BDL 30-06 with beautiful Walnut about 6 months ago from Walmart before they stopped selling them, paid $377 bucks.

I live out a ways in the middle of 5 WMs. It's about a 25 mile ride to any of them.

I have not been able to find .22 in those stores for well over a year, lots of other common pistol ammo either. They basically have a handmade sigh up that says no ammo delivered today. From what I see that sign has been up in most of those stores for months!

Guns forget it, only one stores has a couple real guns for sale a couple had air guns. No AR types for many years in all stores.

Four of those stores are under one overall district manager and people in the know says that person does not like guns or hunting. The other store with a little better selection is in another district, but even in that store finding a clerk as everything is locked up is difficult. Most time a clerk comes in from like housewares and does not know a 12G shell from a 30.06!

So based on this for WM to phase out AR types is not surprising!

Not sure I would want to buy from Walmart here anyways, the help sucks, especially in areas like sporting goods. I would rather buy a gun from my local gun shop then Walmart any day of the week.

The WMs around me no longer sell firearms or ammo. I drive 30 minutes to Meijers and Rural King, in the next county, for my ammo and shooting supplies. Good prices and good people.

My local Walmart has not carried any kind of firearm for decades and except for shotgun shells, it carries little or no ammo. I have not seen a 22LR in the store for over 3 years.

I have heard rumors over the last few years that they were getting out of the guns and ammo all together. I haven't ever heard anything officially.

I think the Walmarts locally have a bit of a strategy going. If they have ammo, they generally don't have any guns. If they have guns, they might have ammo, but not in any chamber for guns they sell. For example, the one closest Walmart with a gun case, might have ARs, or other riffles..but they only ever have 12g shotgun shells, 7mm, and once in a blue moon, maybe some 9mm. They never have any .223, 5.56, .243 or any ammo for any guns in their cases.

This is just my observation from the 4 I've randomly stopped in with in driving distance..
