Was this a good deal?

I had just returned home from a great day at the range, when my neighbor came over to say hi. He saw the shot up zombie targets and asked if I knew anyone that want to buy a 357 magnum. I immediately said yes without knowing any more info. He went home and came back with a 686-5 in the box with a speed loader, manual and cleaning brush. He sold it to me for $100.00 on the spot and then we drank a lot of beer. The next day we went to the gun shop and transferred it over to me. It is in great condition I am still looking at it in disbelief. From what I can tell looking on line I think I stole it from him. Any thoughts?

Wondering two things... why you would wonder if a $100 is a good deal and where do you live that you have to go to a gunshop to have a gun "transferred" to you? You got some kind of registration in your state?

Of course I know it was a great deal! It has a 4" barrel 6 shot, and I live in PA. This isn't my first fire arm but it is the first time I ever got any kind of deal like this.

There's no penance for this-none. I would have had to go to Fantasy Island to get half that deal. that's like someone finding a NIB Python for $500.

If the deal gets to you go to him and tell him the gun is worth more than the $100 you paid and offer to pay him at least an additional $100. That way he is the one who decides what would be right.
