Very nice. That’s a Buck 111 Classic. A really beautiful knife and the sheath is one of the nicest, IMHO. I believe they stopped making them in the mid 1980s.

Buck also made some in brass rather than the aluminum frame yours has. The standard 111 is basically a 110 with radiused bolsters similar to the one I have below though mine has a few different features.

Hey, that looks familiar! Mine is a 510. I’ve posted these before, but what the heck.

Blade is a different shape from your 111:

Bob Schrap made the case:

My only quibble is because I asked for a horizontal wearing style, it needs a dress belt. The slot is too small for my gun belts.

A present from my wife in the late ‘80s. She saw it in a store window in Tokyo and asked how much. They said display only. She is a negotiator. I asked Schrap to make the case some 20 years later.

They are a cool knife. They came out of the Rhinestone Cowboy era. Big hats big buckles and fancy knives.

Love that one posted by Richard Simmons. Might have to start looking. Got the folding Buck Alpha Skinner but sure not as classy looking. Look rugged as well as tough.

Remember when anybody who was somebody had one of those leather cases hanging off their belt ? Now a days the only cases on belts is a cell phone case .

I still wear a belt knife, usually a Benchmade 710. But I have a Puma Whitetail very like a Buck 110 and have a leather pouch for it.

My phone goes in a jacket pocket.

Found in a Tokyo shop...

Can Japanese even carry or own knives that large? What's the legal blade length there?

From what I can tell fixed blades are pretty much illegal and folders have to be slipjoints (non-locking blades) with blades under 8cm which is about 3 5/8”.

I got married in 1978, and as gifts for my groomsmen, I got them each a Buck Knife that was engraved. I can only assume they were the "Classic" line.

Buck recently offered a 110 with an aluminum frame rather than brass. Not quite as light as the 111 Classic but about 1/2 the weight of the traditional 110.

The aluminum 110 was a C&C exclusive in several styles/variations.

I’ve got one in the collection and it’s kinda freaky when you first pick it up as you’re expecting the usual 110 heft. The aluminum model feels like a feather in comparison albeit a well made feather.
