What Do You Carry?

I carry based on where I am going. I'm North of Philly, PA & when I go down there I pack my 9mm S&W M&P Shield with loaded with hollow points & 2 back up magazines filled with hardball. Locally I carry my S&W 638 or 340M&P with 2 speed loaders with 38+P hollow points. With a revolver I am extremely accurate at any distance but with a semi I am good but need more practice. I have a CCP for over 31 years & never have carried as much I do now in these times.

I now carry the Glock 30 (45 Caliber) and my Smith & Wesson 642-1 revolver. Since open carry started in Texas i do carry open in my vehicle
but immediately cover with my shirt before stepping outside my vehicle.

the best guns to conceal carry

I use to carry a 380 gave it to my cousin now a 642 and a bersa thunder 45 and winter I carry the big stuff my Para Ordnance 1911

Depends on what I'm wearing but first choice is either a Kimber .45 Ultra Carry or S&W 325PD .45. In the summer if I'm wearing shorts, usually a Ruger LCP 9 in a pocket holster in my cargo pockets or if just hopping in car to go to store, sometimes a S&W .380 but may also stick a S&W Airweight .38 in the same holster. Currently reliability testing a 4513 TSW for .45 carry.

After having cancer surgery to remove my bladder some time back I'm unable to wear a belt holster either IWB or OWB. Now it's a LCP 380 in a Uncle George wallet holster, and a Shield 9 in a Galco shoulder rig.
Not the most optimal, but it's less obvious than carrying a Louisville Slugger.

What do you carry?

I only carry one weapon at ALL times. The weapon I practice with and am accurate with. The S&W M&P .45 ACP. And that's all year long.

If all your carry guns have the same manual-of-arms (such as with a revolver, in draw, aim, squeeze), there shouldn't be too much confusion. The four that I regularly carry all operate the same way, just point and shoot, nothing else.

Now, if you throw a gun into the mix with a different MOA, like a 1911 for example, there's potential for confusion under pressure.

Maybe if you havn't put hundreds of Ks thru both types but if you have had a 1911 since 1959, had a CCW since 69 & been a small arms instructor, it isn't really much of a problem.

Seriously, if you are trained with an auto, a revolver is never a problem. I also don't think change of site picture is a problem at all for those that shoot a lot.

Favs for carry

Cold weather with a coat are, Para LDA Carry in 45, or FN Five seveN 5.7x28. Cool weather with jeans Kahr PM40. Warm weather with shorts, Smith 351 22 mag, or Beretta 21A in 22lr.

I guess I'm an odd ball, but I carry a Rohrbaugh 9S; very, very small. Since I am in Texas were it is hot 9 months out of the year, I dress very lightly, i.e. shorts and a T shirt.

Times change, tastes change and seasons change, what are you carrying these days?
I have a 3 gun rotation, my 380 LCP, .38 Smith Chiefs Special and my .40 Glock 27. Those three don't change but they change according to weather.
So what's your carry?

My two favorite are a 9mm shield and a 642-2. In very warm weather a Bodyguard .380.

Depends on weather and clothes being worn

Most comfortable is my S&W 38 BodyGuard revolver. Pocket carry, is easy to draw, and quite accurate in close range practice. I also like my Sig P-938, 9mm, with CT laser sights. Very, very accurate and easy to shoot. I find it little bit more involved to draw, from the holster I use. Still searching for the right one! The one I can always easily conceal is my Ruger LCP, 380. I live in South Florida, so clothing is usually t-shirt/shorts. I'm just not totally confident that a 380 would get the job done.
I keep a Kahr PM-9 in the car, equipped with a CT laser sight. Great trigger, and super accurate. Just a little heavier to carry, but it can certainly work, if needed. When training at close to medium ranges, the P-938 and the Kahr PM-9 are just amazingly accurate, no matter what situation I can think of, to create. If I lived up north, and wore a jacket, I'd carry my M&P 40mm. Easy to shoot, with either hand, and very accurate. That serves my bedside.

Something tells me this poll wasn't thought out very well. There ARE calibers larger than .44, in case one didn't know lol.

While I own 9mm and .40 handguns, they really don't get carried. One is kept for my wife to shoot, and the other was my required duty gun, which goes to my son.

Mostly, I carry a Kimber Ultra CDP 2 chambered for .45ACP. Occasionally, mostly in the woods or just for comfort, an FNH FiveSeveN chambered - of course - in 5.7x28. In wilderness areas, a S&W 460V - loaded accordingly depending on what I may come across: 454 Casull or .460 magnums. Sometimes, in local wooded areas, I'll test new holsters or carry methods for the Smith, and just load .45LC.

So I marked 'other' on the poll; fwiw.

When out and about in the countryside I carry a 2" 357 Taurus. In town I carry a 9MM Shield except Sunday. My Sunday Carry is an M&P 40 C with CT Grips.

I carry a M19 or a M59. The M19 is my usual gun but if I'm going some place with my Son I carry my 9mm because that's what he carries. I've shot several people with a .357 and it's never failed me.

Question, thoughts, comments:
If you have fired "several" times using 357 under conditions that wouldn't likely permit hearing protection, how are your ears holding up? I would LOVE to carry a 357 but I fear my hearing would be destroyed completely if I ever had to use it. I carry a 9mm and worry about that! I already have significant hearing damage from a single shot from a deer rifle.

I consider my risk level for actual defense to be relatively low.
